Plus, we can provide you with private guides who have expert local knowledge. They're on hand throughout your visit to North America.

  • When is the best time of year to take a USA and Canada tour?

The climate in North America is varied. The weather might be the deciding factor for you when you're choosing between a USA or Canada tour.

If you love adrenaline-fuelled snow sports and icy landscapes, Canada might be for you. Ski season tends to fall between January and March, with Whistler seeing temperature lows of around -10°C in the village and -15°C in the alpine region.

However, Canadian seasons are similar to those in Europe and the climate varies by province, with warm summers and cold winters. The likes of Alberta, for instance, can see average highs of around 31°C in July.

In terms of weather, what you can expect from a USA tour can vary depending on where and when you travel. Like Canada, the northern states share a lot of similarities with the UK and Europe. They experience four distinct seasons, with warm and cooler temperatures and snowfall in the winter.

Want to hit the surf in California? Late summer into early autumn is ideal. Between June and October, temperatures are high and the water is warm. If you decide to go to see the beautiful autumn colours in New England, October is the best time of year to see the fall leaves in all their glory.

Our team will be happy to offer advice about the ideal time of year to take your USA and Canada tour, helping you select the itinerary that best suits the experiences you want from your trip.

  • How do I get around the USA and Canada?

Both the USA and Canada are vast. Navigating these countries requires different methods of transport. For example, domestic flights are often needed to get from one state or province to another, whilst cars are necessary once in the specific area.

Our USA and Canada tours are focused itineraries that allow you to go from one place to another with ease. For instance, there are train tours that offer you the opportunity to travel across the map in a luxurious setting.

There are also road trips that are designed to take you across the States and through Canada while taking in stunning scenery and stopping off at exclusive retreats and resorts along the way.

Our travel specialists will curate your trip, taking care of every last detail, so, whether you're taking an escorted tour of the east coast of the USA or heading to Canada's rugged west, you can relax and enjoy the experience.

  • What do I need to know before visiting the USA and Canada?

There are some key points to consider before travelling in the USA and Canada on one of our tours:

    • Visas

You won't need a visa to visit Canada if you're a British citizen flying to Canada. However, you'll need to apply for an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) before you travel if you are planning to get to the country by air.

If your tour is in the USA, you may find that, as a UK citizen, you fall under the Visa Waiver Program. You will need to complete an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) at least 72 hours before travel. Exceptions do apply to the Visa Waiver Program, however. More information can be found on the UK government website.

    • Languages

Canada has two official languages: English and French. Quebec is the only province to have French as its official language, with around three-quarters of residents speaking the language at home, but you'll have no problem using English.

  • There are so many USA and Canada tours to choose from. How do I decide?

There is a plethora of experiences on offer when you plan a trip to the USA and Canada. Our tours have been designed to ensure you get the most out of each location.

If you want a beachside break, we've created itineraries that take you to the coast, where you can indulge in water activities before heading to high-end boutiques. Perhaps you long for a luxurious holiday in Miami or want to go whale-watching in Monterey Bay. No matter your vision, we can arrange an unforgettable trip that caters to your needs.

Should you love the icy chill as you hurtle down the slopes, Whistler could be for you. Or maybe you want to go on a bear hunt in Alaska? The Yukon is also a great destination for wildlife watching, with grizzly bears and caribous to spot.

For the best of both worlds, you can always tour both the USA and Canada. Our travel team can help you to plan the perfect itinerary. We're here to discuss the type of holiday you have in mind.
