Autumn is Rhode Island's most glorious season, though spring and summer are pleasant as well. These times bring in healthy-sized crowds due to favourable weather and special events. Weather usually remains warm throughout September, while cooler temperatures in October bring out the colourful foliage. Winter lasts too long for most people's tastes, stretching from December to April. During this period, visitors can expect temperatures below freezing and plenty of snow.

Itinerary

Enjoy the evolution of coastal New England from Rhode Island’s exclusive mansions and towns to the Acadia National Park’s rugged wild coast. Soak in the picturesque seaside and step aboard a private lobster vessel or whale watch in Provincetown.

  1. Days 1-4: Westerly, New England, United States of America

Welcome to New England! Check into your room at your seaside resort and enjoy time at leisure to relax on the white sand beach and take in striking views of Montauk and Block Island in the distance. In the afternoon, visit Newport to embark on a private cruise aboard a fully staffed vintage motor yacht, complete with a raw bar and lobster lunch. Admire the town’s famed stately mansions from the water, spectate a local sailboat race, or sail around little-known Jamestown for a true insider tour.

Accommodation: Ocean House at Watch Hill (3 nights)

  2. Days 4-6: Cape Cod

Cross the border into Massachusetts and make your way up the Cape Cod peninsula, famed for its pristine beaches, quaint villages and delectable seafood. Check into your seaside resort and enjoy some time to discover the magic of the Cape at your own pace. You may elect to head out on a private fishing charter or whale watching excursion, or join a local foodie guide for a tasting tour of this bountiful region’s gourmet

Accommodation: Chatham Bars Inn (2 nights)

  3. Days 6-8: Cape Neddick, New England, United States of America

Work your way back down the Cape before kicking off the Maine leg of your road trip as you proceed to Ogunquit. Wabanaki for “beautiful place by the sea,” Ogunquit has attracted beachgoers and artists alike for centuries. As evening approaches, step aboard a private lobstering vessel for a hands-on lobstering experience. Try your hand at baiting traps, hauling up catches and handling live lobsters as you learn about the importance of the lobster industry to Maine’s cultural fabric.

    Accommodation: Cliff House (2 nights)

  4. Days 8-10: Maine

    Day 8-9: Acadia National Park

Continue heading north as Ogunquit’s picturesque shores give way to the natural splendor of Acadia National Park. Arrive in Bar Harbor in time to drop off your bags and grab lunch, then delight in an aerial survey of the park aboard an authentic 1930’s biplane. See if you can spot all seven of the nearby lighthouses from the air then once back on terra firma, enjoy the evening at your leisure. Spend your final day in Maine on a guided tour of Acadia National Park with a naturalist driver guide. Explore Acadia’s natural treasures, including pristine woodlands, rocky beaches and glacier-scoured granite peaks as you keep an eye out for the local resident wildlife.

    Day 10: Departure

Make your way to Portland International Jetport, where you will either begin the drive home, or drop off your rental car in time for your flight. Safe travels!

Accommodation: The White Barn Inn (2 nights)
