At a Glance

  • Great out of town location to retreat to from Jaipur

  • An authentic palace experience - the property has been wonderfully restored but still maintains a lot of original character

  • The hotel does specialize in group travel so there may be an event on during your stay, on the plus side this means that you will probably witness some fireworks and traditional Rajasthani dancing which adds to the atmosphere.

  • The smaller rooms are a little darker which is why we recommend a Palace Suite

  • The location out of Jaipur can deter people but it takes just under an hour to get to the center of Jaipur

Insider's View

Walk out of the gates of the palace to explore the cobbled lanes and the markets of Samode Village, stopping by little shops such as the bangle maker, the cloth merchant and the gem stone specialist. Remember to bargain hard though!

Insider's View

Ask for a tour of the palace with a member of staff as there’s so much to see and learn about. The Hall of Mirrors is particularly impressive.

To start planning your vacation to Samode Palace

The 19th century Samode Palace is the sister hotel to Samode Haveli in Jaipur and consists of 42 rooms and suites. Whilst the Haveli was the Rawal of Samode’s town house, the Palace was his country residence. Lovingly renovated by the Rawal’s descendants, every one of the rooms has been given its own individual character.

Breakfast is served in the palace's courtyard and there are two restaurants serving either local dishes or Asian and European fare. There is a superb swimming pool made of marble and mosaics, a rooftop infinity pool with views over the Aravalli mountain range and a spa offering a full range of massage therapies. Other facilities include a fitness center, sauna and steam room. The interior of the hotel contains many stunning frescoes and the rooms themselves are filled with a range of antique furniture.

The hotel is perfectly located for walks through the local village of Samode where you can visit chattries, Havelis and 250 year old bawries (water wells). The village is also well known for its various artisans who sell their work on the markets along the streets. Samode is also a wonderful location to visit Jaipur and Amer fort from as its peaceful location is ideal for relaxation after a busy day sightseeing.

The Samode Palace offers 4 Royal Suites, 20 Deluxe Suites and 19 spacious rooms. Each room has its own personality and is elegantly and luxuriously furnished to give it a sophisticated feel. The floral theme of the hotel continues in the rooms as many of the textiles have beautiful flower prints on them.

Children are welcome to come and stay at Samode Palace. However, there are no specific facilities available for them at the hotel. Babysitting can be arranged upon request.

A buffet breakfast is served in the courtyard under the canopy of the trees. There are two restaurants at the hotel. On restaurant focuses on a menu of Rajasthani dishes whilst the other has more of an Asian and European influence. The palace also has a large wine cellar with professionally picked wines globally to accompany your meal.

The hotel has an inviting Mosaic Pool and Jacuzzi in its grounds. There is also an infinity pool on the rooftop offering lovely views of the area. The hotel's spa offers a range of indulgent treatments, a sauna, a steam room and a fitness center.

Take a trip to the local village of Samode to visit chattries, havelis and 250 yr old bawries (water wells) or go trekking in the desert landscape. The village is also well known for its various arts and crafts and a great place for understanding rural life in Rajasthan.

Location & Directions

Japiur, Rajasthan, India

Samode lies in the State of Rajasthan in North India. Located about 42 km. north-west of Jaipur, Samode Palace is reached by a short road from Chandwaji where it branches off the Delhi-Jaipur highway.

When to go

Rajasthan is known as the desert state. It is largely hot and dry throughout the year, making it a great destination to get away from European winters.

Summer in Rajasthan extends from April to June. It is s the hottest season, with temperatures ranging from 32 degree C to 45 degree C, so not ideal for travel, although early April is a good time to get cheaper rates if you dont mind the temperature in the high 30s. In western Rajasthan the temperature may reach at high as 45 degree C, particularly in May and June so we'd suggest avoiding Jaisalmer and the Thar Desert at this time.

The second season - technically the "Monsoon" (although in reality Rajasthan never receives much rainfall) extends from July to September. The temperature drops slightly, and humidity increases. 90% of the rain Rajasthan can expect occurs during this period. Lakes and rivers will be higher from mountain run-off and flowers and grasses come to life, bringing added color to the landscape.

The Post-monsoon period is from October to November. The average maximum temperature is 33 degree C to 38 degree C, and the minimum is between 18 degree C and 20 degree C. The official "season" for hotels in Rajasthan starts in October. It’s a great time to travel - warm and sunny during and perfect for exploring and relaxing.

The fourth season is "winter", and runs from December to March. With day time temperatures still in the high 20's during the day this a very popular time to travel. Hotels are at the their busiest over the Christmas and new year period. Be aware though that December and January can have very cool mornings and evening and we suggest taking some warm clothing. Whilst temperatures in the desert areas are always hot in the daytime, they become some of the coolest areas of the state once the sun goes down. It’s also fairly standard to expect some fog in the major cities of Northern Rajstasthan and Delhi in December and January.
