Average time to visit
Situated just south of the equator, the Seychelles have a warm tropical climate. The consistently warm tropical weather makes the Seychelles a good year round destination.
There is little fluctuation in warmth, with temperatures ranging from 24C to 31C all year round. From May to October a southeast trade wind can bring marginally cooler weather and fresh breezes. From November to March the northwest monsoon wind blows, typically raising temperature and humidity. December and January are the wettest months, but the rain falls in short sharp bursts before the sun comes out again.

Description
Opened in 2016, Carana Beach is a boutique island hotel situated at the northern tip of Mahé, offering a relaxed and authentic yet luxurious Seychelles experience on one of the world's most beautiful islands.
With just 40 spacious chalets, each one overlooking one of Mahe's most picturesque small beaches with its white sand and strikingly blue sea, Carana Beach is a luxurious boutique hotel in the Seychelles designed to take advantage of its unique location. With contemporary décor featuring neutral tones and an island beach house theme, the hotel exudes a casual yet chic charm creating the perfect relaxing beach retreat.
The menu at Lorizon, Carana Beach's main restaurant, is inspired by the hotel's own family-owned farm, and offers both a casual and semi-formal dining experience, incorporating refined international cuisine with local Creole touches. A beachfront bar with sun-bleached wooden decks provides guests the perfect surroundings to relax with a refreshing cocktail just moments from the shore, and with double cabanas and giant bean bags, guests have no choice but to kick back, relax and take in the view.
Accommodation
The accommodation at Carana Beach is formed of 28 semi-detached Chalets and 12 Pool Chalets on the hillside, all positioned close to the beach and offering sea views. Both Chalet types feature natural fabrics and contemporary décor and offer spacious bathrooms with separate vanity and shower, an open terrace with sunloungers, air conditioning, LED satellite television and tea and coffee making facilities.
Ocean View Chalet | The 28 Ocean View Chalets are positioned closest to the beach in semi-detached units. With clean white walls, natural wood floors and neutral soft furnishings, these chalets are the ultimate luxury retreat. |
Ocean View Pool Chalet | The 12 Ocean View Pool Chalets are positioned on the hillside with stunning sea views. With clean white walls, natural wood floors and neutral soft furnishings, these chalets are the ultimate luxury retreat with the added feature of a private infinity plunge pool. They also have Nespresso machines. |
Childcare
There are no specific facilities for children at Carana Beach but the Chalet accommodation is designed to suit both couples and families and children under 12 can share a room with their parents free of charge. The main pool area is child friendly and children's menus are available at the Lorizon restaurant.
Facilities
The hotel has an excellent restaurant, Lorizon, with a menu concept inspired and sourced from the hotel's own family-owned farm on Denis Island. For lunch, the hotel serves a great selection of tapas and light meals made from fresh local ingredients and seafood. The evening à la carte menu changes daily and offers a variety of farm-to-table dishes with local Seychelles flavours. There is also a beach bar serving light snacks throughout the day. The bar, restaurant and lounge all offer a relaxing atmosphere and ocean views. There is also a large main pool and a small spa and wellness centre.
Activities
The hotel has a lovely beachfront swimming pool and the small spa offers a choice of therapeutic spa treatments. Guests can relax on the stunning stretch of beach and borrow snorkelling equipment or kayaks to get out in the water. The hotel can arrange island-hopping excursions or trips to explore the island of Mahé as well as diving and fishing.
Reviews
Juliet Morris (Staff)
I loved the stylish beach house feel of this cute little boutique hotel. It offers a casual and charming beach retreat. There are not many facilities at the hotel, so it offers a great base from which to explore the island of Mahe. The food was delicious - really fresh and wholesome. Most of their ingredients are sourced from their organic farm on Denis Island and you can taste the freshness! Just back from the beach is a super decking, next to the restaurant and bar, where you can find the most sumptuous giant bean bags - the perfect place to chill out with a good book or watch the waves rolling in.
