Uda Walawe National Park, located just south of Sri Lanka's Hill Country, is notably important as it is home to a large number of Sri Lankan elephants.
Kalu's Hideaway, positioned a short distance from Uda Walawe National Park, makes an excellent alternative to camping for those who would like something a little more comfortable. Set in 5 acres of lush green grounds, with its own vegetable garden, a small spa and an outdoor swimming pool, it perfectly combines the wildlife aspect of the national park with comfort and relaxation. The tranquil Walawe river runs past the end of the garden, and guests can go fishing here. This eco-friendly hotel started off as the vacation home to the famous Sri Lankan ex-cricketer Romesh Kaluwitharana.
