From May to August the Yala monsoon brings rain to the island’s southwestern half. The southwest has the highest rainfall – up to 4000mm a year. There is also an inter-monsoonal period in October and November when rain can occur in many parts of the island. Colombo and the low-lying coastal regions have an average temperature of 27°C. The sea stays at around 27°C all year. Climatically speaking, the driest (and best) seasons in Sri Lanka are from December to March for the west and south coasts.

Recently opened, Wild Coast Tented Lodge is Resplendent Ceylon's latest addition. Close to Yala National Park on Sri Lanka's South Coast, this luxury lodge will be made up of 36 luxury cocoon tents surrounded by incredible wildlife.
Enjoy a truly authentic wilderness experience with Resplendent Ceylon at Wild Coast Tented Lodge. The sister property of the renowned Ceylon Tea Trails, Wild Coast Tented Lodge is the third addition to Resplendent Ceylon's hotel offerings in Sri Lanka.
Wild Coast Tented Lodge sits on the edge of Yala National Park in the south of this fascinating teardrop island. Renowned as being the home of Sri Lanka's elusive leopard, Yala offers some of the best wildlife sightings in Sri Lanka. The lodge itself sits in the small town of Palatupana, where jungle meets beach along Sri Lanka's rugged coastline.
The 36 canvas tents, either Cocoon or Urchin, have been designed around five waterholes in a clever layout of a leopard's paw. Watch the wildlife flock here from your very own private viewing deck. Inside each tent has air conditioning and understated earthy tones. Choose a Pool Cocoon which offers a private plunge pool, whilst for families, a Cocoon tent with adjoining Urchin tent provides ample space for all.
Food at Wild Coast Tented Lodge is bound to surpass expectations, especially with it being a Relais & Chateaux accredited property. Expect gourmet safari cuisine with a Sri Lankan flair. Here enjoy a feast of dishes in the chic bamboo open-air dining pavilion or alternatively ask for a private dinner under the stars in the beach garden.
During the day enjoy private guiding around the park, before heading back for a spa treatment at the Sanctuary Spa. Onto sundowners and dinner followed by some star gazing, a truly .

There are 36 luxury tents at Wild Coast Tented Lodge, featuring air conditioning, teak floors and canvas walls. There are six clusters which make up the different accommodation.
Childcare
Children are welcome at Wild Coast Tented Lodge and will love getting up close with Sri Lanka's wildlife. Up to two children can be accommodated in a Cocoon sharing with parents. Either a single folding bed or two sleeping bags can be provided.
Facilities
Ten Tuskers bar and Dining Pavilion offers guests a wide selection of Sri Lankan cuisine. Elsewhere choose from an al fresco picnic on the sand dunes or romantic sundowners followed by a private dining experience.

How to get there
Fly into Colombo's Bandaranaike International Airport. From there it's a 6-hour 30-minute drive. You can also a 45-minute domestic flight from Colombo to Hambantota. From there, Wild Coast is just a 1-hour drive away.
