The temperature is warm throughout the year (average 29°C), yet hotter around months June and July and cooler around December. Hoi An is affected by monsoon winds. The city will be constantly raining from September till January, and dry for the rest of the year. Overall, the best time to visit Hoi An is between February and June when rainfall is low and temperatures are pleasant. The temperatures can get hot during summer time and during the rainy season, particularly during October and November, rains can be frequent and heavy.
If you can, time your visit to Hoi An for the full moon during on the 14th day of the lunar year each month for the Full Moon festivals, when the town becomes the stage for traditional songs, dancing, games and food, with lanterns lining all of the streets.

Set in a tranquil location in Hoi An on Vietnam's central coast, Heron House offers a charming home away from home. With three spacious bedrooms overlooking the surrounding paddy fields and a nice pool, visitors can take just a room or the whole house.
Heron House is a delightful three-bedroom villa located on the outskirts of Hoi An; one of Vietnam's most beguiling towns, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The relaxed atmosphere and rural setting makes this an ideal property for couples or families looking for something a bit different to a typical hotel.
The house has three wonderfully spacious en-suite bedrooms, with each boasting a large terrace or verandah, offering the perfect spot to sit back and take in the views of the lush countryside. Each room has a king-size bed, large bathtub and separate shower. The decor is stylish but authentic, with traditional French Colonial design featuring pretty patterned floor tiles and wooden pillars and rafters.
The villa has a comfortable kitchen and dining area, and in the garden guests will find a nice pool. Heron House is privately owned, and the welcoming hosts aim to provide a personalised stay for all guests. Food and beverage options are flexible, and can be adapted as per your preference. Each room has a minibar, with reasonably priced drinks, and there is also a bar downstairs where the staff will be more than happy to serve you a chilled glass of wine or mix up some delicious cocktails. The most common way to dine at Heron House is to order from one on the nearby restaurants, but it is also possible to cook for yourself, or the staff can arrange a mouth-watering BBQ.
Heron House has its own bicycles, which guests are free to use. Despite the rural setting, the villa is only around three kilometres from the centre of Hoi An, which is brimming with fantastic restaurants and colourful streets just waiting to be explored. From Heron House it also only takes around 10-15 minutes to reach the beach by bicycle. For those who do not wish to cycle it is very easy to arrange taxis or even motorbikes.
There are three spacious bedrooms at Heron House, each spanning around 65sqm and featuring air conditioning, and en suite bathrooms, with large marble bathtubs and a large verandah or terrace.
Children are welcome at Heron House and there's plenty of space to accommodate younger guests. The rural setting is sure to appeal to children, with the opportunity to spot local farm animals including water buffalo and ducks. As well a garden to play in, the villa also has plenty of board games.
There is plenty to see and do in and around Hoi An, including walking tours or exploring by bicycle, Vespa or even kayak! Heron House has its own pool, and the villa is also only a short drive or cycle to one of the nearby sandy beaches.
