Ginger is a spectacular luxury ship which cruises the Lan Ha Bay area of the Halong Bay archipelago in Northern Vietnam. This ship is the first of its kind to cruise in this much quieter and far less touristy area.

Ginger is a pioneering new cruise ship, breaking out of the densely touristed Halong Bay to open up tour routes around the equally beautiful Lan Ha Bay area of the Halong Archipelago. Here you will see significantly fewer commercial boats, and will be invited to gain a deeper insight into the local way of life.
With a classic traditional Vietnamese design incorporating contemporary and classic art themes and a length of 57 meters, Ginger is both incredibly spacious and timelessly elegant. Ginger has 12 suites, all with balconies, split over two decks. The Junior Suites are located on the bottom deck and have a light and airy contemporary design. Two of these Junior Suites also interconnect, making them the perfect option for families. On the middle deck are the Signature Suites with delicate silk embroidery on the walls and mosaic tiled walls. White Crane and Blue Phoenix are the two Regent Suites boasting a vast amount of space, antique furniture, gold leaf accents and a jacuzzi, perfect for soaking up the passing views.
Whilst cruising, you can expect the highest standards of food and beverage with a fantastic daily brunch, and multi course menu for dinner. Meals can be taken in your cabin (upon request), al-fresco on the terrace, or in the stylish restaurant and bar as you enjoy a practically 360-degree view of the bay through its floor to ceiling glass windows.
The library lounge is the perfect place for a chat on the comfortable sofas as you examine the antiques and artefacts, or otherwise the sun deck and blue tiled pool surrounded by cabanas is great for relaxing and catching some rays.
Onboard activities include exploring the local island life on bikes and on foot, cooking demonstrations onboard, Tai Chi classes on the sun deck and morning kayaking through the limestone karst scenery. A large Spa area with two private rooms (one VIP treatment room including steam bath) is available.

The spacious suites each have a comfortable seating area, private balcony and unique handmade decoration and furnishings. The Junior Suites are hand inked with images of local scenery and silver leaf details on the ceiling. The Signature suites are perfect for honeymooners with the mosaicked bathroom and delicate floral embroidery on the silk wall hangings creating a romantic and dreamy atmosphere. And from the Regent Suite you can enjoy unparalleled vistas over Lan Ha Bay from the comfort of your jacuzzi.

Children are welcome on board but there are no specific facilities for them, however inter-connecting cabins are available for families. The service on board is very personalised and the crew will do their utmost to make sure your stay as a family is as enjoyable as possible. Children will love the excitement of sleeping on board and having the ocean and all its adventures right on the doorstep.

Facilities on Ginger include a light and airy restaurant and bar with live cooking in the central open kitchen. Guests are invited to socialise at the stylish adjacent bar, or to simply relax in the library lounge on one of the comfortable sofas. A small boutique in the reception lounge is the perfect place to pick up a souvenir, otherwise guests might choose to indulge in a treatment from the Lady Ginger Spa on the upper deck with relaxing views out to sea. Finally the terrace deck is a popular location for guests to congregate, taking advantage of the cool blue-tiled pool or inviting cabanas.

Activities on board include morning Tai Chi, a live cooking workshop, spa treatments, cycling on Cat Ba island, swimming and kayaking and an evening cinema entertainment. Squid fishing with the crew and visits to a local village on Cat Ba Island is also a wonderful local experience. Even on rainy days, with Wi-Fi on board and in-room entertainment systems it is easy to pass the time.

Imperious Halong Bay – a Unesco World Heritage site that resembles the set of a James Bond movie – has 1,500 forested limestone karsts rising sharply from the azure waters of the Gulf of Tonkin. You zip up from Hanoi early in the morning, then decant onto one of these wonderful junks for a rather good lunch while sailing through magical landscape, stopping off to check out beaches, snorkelling in crystal clear waters, cruising past floating villages, then anchoring up amid magnificent scenery before tucking into a 5-course dinner. After a nightcap on the top deck, drop down to your cabin for a good night’s sleep and find comfy beds, shiny wood, huge views and fancy showers. Sleep with your curtains open and wake to magical views. In the morning there’s tai chi on the deck (your teacher’s performance is quite sublime) and a trip to mountain caves for the best views in the islands. Then you jump back on board for a leisurely brunch before heading onwards.
