Buenos Aires and the Pampas are year-round destinations, with pleasant temperatures. January and February here can be hot and humid. The weather is good almost all year round in Salta and the north west in general. It’s warm and dry in winter (June to September) though it gets cold at night. Summer (December to February) is hot and there’s no air conditioning in most rooms. Avoid the rainy season of February to March, when many of the roads to places you'll want to explore may be impassable due to flooding.
Journey through sweeping red rock formations and past giant cacti in northern Argentina for a rewarding and off-the-beaten-path experience! Visit boutique vineyards and soak in spectacular Andean scenery as you explore charming Cafayate, Cachi and Salta.
Fly into Buenos Aires for the perfect introduction to Argentina, spending three nights in this vibrant capital city where you can expect to find mouth-watering cuisine, fiery tango shows, a buzzing arts scene and some beautiful hotels. We’ve included a private tour with a local guide to give you insider knowledge on the best that this vibrant city has to offer.
Some would say the real adventure begins as you land in Salta, a 2-hour flight from Buenos Aires. The contrast from the cosmopolitan capital is instantly apparent as you encounter the distinct Andean cultures, which bear most resemblance to those found in Bolivia and Peru. We’ve included two nights here so you have time to explore historic Salta or alternatively, head out of the city to trek amidst gorgeous rocky scenery and gigantic cacti, venture out on horseback or even quad bike for something more adventurous.
From here, head to Cachi for one night and explore this pre-Hispanic village. Located in the upper Calchaqui Valley, Cachi has many natural attractions, along with an interesting archaeological museum which is well worth a visit.
The vineyards of Cafayate are next on the agenda, producers of some of the most renowned Torrontes wines. Here the wines are much less commercially produced than in many of South America's wine growing regions, with a number of boutique vineyards having sprung up - perfect for wine connoisseurs and amateurs alike. The countryside is beautiful, providing a perfect spot to relax. Spend your days tasting the local produce, horseback riding amongst the vineyards & cycling. We've included a day's trekking for you with an expert local guide so that you may admire the scenery.
Fly back to Buenos Aires and drive into the Pampas, land of Argentina’s legendary cowboys, for a stay on an authentic working cattle ranch. Ride across the vast plains, learning all about the gaucho traditions. In the evening, enjoy a typical Argentine ‘asado’ BBQ and sample the incredible Argentine home-from-home hospitality before your flight home.
When you're in Buenos Aires, don't miss the chance to learn the Argentine tango with a private dance lesson. Our expert tango teacher will get beginners dancing more than just the basic steps, or they will help more experienced dancers to move up a level.
Enjoy a guided bike ride, taking in the cultural highlights and off the beaten path neighbourhoods of Buenos Aires to discover the city's most impressive street art and understand the context with some background history and culture thrown in.
Get behind the scenes of Buenos Aires' culinary culture on this 100% bespoke foodie tour, taking an insider's view on the city's best restaurants, bars or even cookery classes at the hands of your expert guide.
