Welcome to Buenos Aires. The city has an irrepressible energy and there is no shortage of activities to keep the kids amused. On arrival, transfer to the city's most wonderful and contemporary hotel. Located in the heart of town, with a cool waterfront setting, you’re just moments from some of the city’s main attractions, scenery cocktail bars and al fresco restaurants. We’ve handpicked some of our favourite experiences to inject your stay with endless fun every corner you turn. From here, head out to the leafy suburb of San Isidro where you’ll learn to cook your own empanadas in the home of a local chef. Kneading the dough and packing up the little parcels with the meaty fillings is excellent work for small hands, and the chance to interact with a local family makes for a really enriching experience. Our expert local guide will bring the area to life for you on a private tour which can be curated to match your preferences (how does a private chocolate tasting take your fancy?). Taking the cable car to the top of Campanario Hill is always popular with children of any age – the journey is more than half the fun but the views from the top promise to bewitch too. Days 8-10: Visit The Pampas
Today you fly back to Buenos Aires, where you will be met and transferred just outside of the city to spend your last couple of nights at Estancia La Bandada. Located on a 200-hectare working ranch among the sprawling grasslands of the Pampas, the kids will have lots of freedom to explore. There are ample trails to traverse on foot or you can borrow a few of the estancia’s bikes and discover this rugged region on two wheels. If you’re feeling adventurous, this is also prime horseriding country. Horses are an important part of life on the ranch and there are a number of well-trained and easy-going horses that guests can take out for a ride whether they have previous experience or not. Saddle up and enjoy a unique perspective on the rugged Argentinean countryside. The estancia is also a birding paradise and La Bandada have put together a brilliant self-guided programme that makes for the perfect family activity. Grab the binoculars and birding guide and head down to the lagoon to tick off a myriad of species, from hummingbirds to herons and everything in between. Your little adventurers will be transformed into professional birdwatchers and you’ll be amazed at how many different birds you can identify, and at how competitive it can get!
