Buenos Aires and the Iguazu Falls are year round destinations, with pleasant temperatures. January and February are usually the hottest months whilst the winter months (June and July) tend to be cooler (and wetter in the city). With fairly tropical conditions all year, it's the water levels at the Iguazu Falls that can vary depending on rainfall in the surrounding area - December to February tend to be wetter, compared to the driest months (June and July), however, you'll be rewarded with stunning vistas regardless of the season.
The Iberá Wetlands in the North of Argentina experience the most rain fall between October and April, with temperatures fluctuating between about 20°C in July and 30°C in January. Although wildlife can be viewed throughout the year; bird watching is most rewarding in the drier months (April - October).
Wildlife in the Peninsula Valdes is prevalent all year round (sea-lions, elephant seals, dolphins, and plenty of birdlife). Southern Right Whales visit from around June to December (breeding occurs from September to November. Large numbers of penguins can be found on the beaches between September and March. Rain typically falls from March until July, which coincides with a drop in temperatures - from to 30°C in summer to about 15°C. Visitors to this region should be prepared for strong winds and changeable weather at any time.
Patagonia is best visited from November to March when temperatures are milder, but visitors should be prepared for strong winds and changeable weather at any time. It is worth considering travelling outside this time, especially rewarding in April or October as winds can drop significantly and there are far fewer visitors in the National Parks.
