A great family adventure taking in many of Argentina's highlights: vibrant Buenos Aires, incredible marine wildlife in the Valdes Peninsula, the glaciers of Patagonia, adventure options in the Lake District and horse riding in the Pampas.

  1. Fly to Buenos Aires

  2. Days 1-3: Buenos Aires

Begin by flying to Buenos Aires, Argentina's vibrant capital city. There is lots for the whole family, from taking in a Boca Juniors soccer game and shopping till you drop, to learning some tango steps and dining out at fabulous steak restaurants. We’ve included a fun city tour by bike, a great way for little (or big!) legs to cover more ground and explore Buenos Aires’ vibrant neighbourhoods.

Accommodation: Palacio Duhau - Park Hyatt Buenos Aires (2 nights)

  3. Days 3-6: Peninsula Valdes

Next, fly to Puerto Madryn on Patagonia's Atlantic seaboard, where our driver will meet you and take you across the wildly beautiful Valdes Peninsula, past sand dunes and salt pans to El Pedral Lodge. Elephant seals, sea lions, whales are just some of the species you will see. A variety of exciting outdoor activities can be experienced such as sea kayaking and boat trips to view wildlife, horseback riding and open-water fishing for mackerel and sea bass.

Accommodation: El Pedral Lodge (3 nights)

  4. Days 6-8: El Calafate

Fly to El Calafate deep in southern Patagonia. This is a land of towering Andean peaks, enormous glaciers, shimmering jade-coloured lakes and wide-open countryside ideal for horse riding, walking and getting to know the lifestyle of the hardy settlers and sheep farmers. We’ve included a visit and boat ride to the Perito Moreno glacier, an absolute must when in Patagonia. For slightly older children, we would definitely recommend doing the mini-trekking, which sees you don crampons and ice picks to enter a world of blue ice caves, crevasses and incredible vistas.

Accommodation: Esplendor El Calafate (2 nights)

  5. Days 8-11: Bariloche & the Lake District

Head north today to Bariloche, gateway to the beautiful Lake District and Argentina’s answer to a Swiss chocolate town. You’ll be met at the airport and transferred to your lakeside hotel. Spend your days here on self-guided hikes, kayaking on the lake or travelling further afield to discover the region’s expansive lakes, dense forests and hidden gems. Try your hand at sailing, archery, golf, nature trails, and a great deal more, there is a superb range of activities on offer for the whole family.

Accommodation: Llao Llao Hotel & Resort (3 nights)

  6. Days 11-13: Pampas

Fly back to Buenos Aires and drive into the Pampas, land of Argentina’s legendary cowboys, for a stay on an authentic working cattle ranch. Ride across the vast plains, learning all about the gaucho traditions. In the evenings, enjoy a typical Argentine ‘asado’ BBQ and sample the incredible Argentine home-from-home hospitality before your flight home.

Accommodation: Estancia La Bandada (2 nights)

  7. Fly home from to Buenos Aires

  • Perito Moreno & Mini Ice Trek

Kitted with ropes and crampons, you'll walk on the 20-storey high, 3-mile wide Perito Moreno glacier for spectacular views of the lakes and lagoons. Afterwards explore the walkways to gain new perspectives and take incredible panoramic shots.
