With only six safari tents, and seven luxury eco-lodges, Monsoon Forest retains a quiet and boutique feel. The tents are set under the shade of Mahua trees and have views over the mature grasslands and Monsoon Forest’s own reforestation project. The tents are thoughtfully furnished using made to order safari furniture, wooden floors, en-suite bathrooms with showers and modern amenities. There is a verandah on which to sit back and watch the world go by.
The main guest areas use earth walls, with the roof supported by sal wood rafters and tiles from the 1930s – it creates a remarkably interesting and chic feel.
The food is organically produced from their own gardens, generally favouring local dishes, but international cuisine is available upon request. Guests are able to do cookery lessons. Meals are either served in the main lodge, al fresco under the Mahua Tree, on your own verandah or in the Nursery.
What is really quite special is their library and art gallery which records the lives of the individual tigers of Bandhavgarh over the past 15 years, as well as a number of books that are great for a little read in between game drives. They also offer the opportunity to visit local villages – something that provides something a little more than the usual safari experience.
Monsoon forest offers six en-suite tents which are air cooled. Each tent boasts its own private wrap around verandahs with views of mature grasslands surrounded by our upcoming forest. Made to order safari furniture, wooden floors, twin beds with great attention to comfort blended with discrete lighting. En-suite bathrooms with modern amenities, wash basins, indoors showers and WC. A private massage area in the verandahs with an option of a yoga lesson in the mornings is also available.
Children are very welcome to come and stay at Monsoon Forest. However, there are no specific facilities available for them. Children will love the game drives and elephant safaris.
Facilities at the camp include the main guest area 'Baithak', library and art gallery, interpretation center, safari shop and TV room.
Services at the hotel include laundry, WiFi, massages and cookery demonstrations.
Game drives and elephant safaris are included in room rates at Monsoon Forest. The park is home to the highest density of tigers in the world so you'll be sure to catch a glimpse of one. You can also go birdwatching and there are excursions to the fort in the Tiger Reserve. Other game in the park include nilgai, chausingha, chital, chinkara, wild boar and sometimes a fox or jackal.
