To start planning your holiday to Taj Mahal Palace
Description
Built in 1903, the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai is considered one of the finest hotels in India and is a fusion of Moorish, Oriental and Florentine architectural styles encapsulating sumptuous luxury and gracious living.
With stunning views over the Arabian Sea and located just next to the Gateway of India monument, the Taj Mahal Palace stands as one of Mumbai's iconic structures in its own right. It is the flagship property of the Taj Group and successfully blends old world charm with exceptional levels of style, comfort and service.
Its 560 rooms and suites are tastefully decorated with many housing antiques and artwork. The Tower Wing, built in 1973 by American architect Melton Bekker, houses 275 rooms offering a mix of European style and Indian elegance with views overlooking the city or the Gateway of India and the Arabian Sea. Taj Club rooms feature rosewood floors and high ceilings and are equipped with a Sony Bravia home theatre system, luxurious Italian marbled bathrooms with a bathtub and a separate shower cubicle (with hydro massage hand showers and overhead rain showers).
The hotel has seven restaurants and two bars. It also houses the Taj Group’s flagship Jiva Spa, an outdoor and indoor swimming pool. You can take to the seas in the hotel's yacht with all the modern comforts you need including three air conditioned bedrooms, a salon complete with a bar and entertainment system. The cruise takes you across to the periphery of Elephanta Island to view medieval period caves.

The Taj Mahal Palace offers 550 rooms including six different suite categories. Rooms overlook the city or face the Gateway of India and the Arabian Sea.

The Taj Mahal Palace is a real must-stay while in Mumbai. The building is an incredible sight to behold both inside and out and the history behind the hotel provides a real insight into regal India with stories behind every pillar and cranny. The service is absolutely flawless - the staff really make you feel welcome and provide you with the highest standard of care and attention.
I would highly recommend dinner at Masala Craft for a traditional Indian feast followed by sampling one of the signature cocktails at The Harbour Bar. The hotel is an iconic part of the city - a grand palace fit for royalty and the perfect partner to sample all the Mumbai has to offer.

This is my all time favourite hotel in Bombay and one of the cities most iconic buildings. Away from the tasteful heritage rooms in the palace part of the hotel, I absolutely love the buzz of this hotel and its location. The views out to the Gateway of India and over the Arabian Ocean are supreme and the quality of the food served in the restaurants is excellent (although perhaps more in line with London in terms of pricing) This hotel is perfect for short stays in Bombay as it's location is perfect for exploring the city.
