Soak up the sun on the outdoor Jacuzzi on the top deck, watching the landscape as you sail the calm waters
The best time of year to visit Halong Bay is during the spring or autumn. Because the bay is situated in the northern part of the country, it can get colder in the winter. The rainy season here is at its peak in July to September. July is the hottest month, January the coolest. The dry season runs from November to April.
Offering unparalleled levels of luxury and service, the Orchid Premium Cruise sails the jade waters of Lan Ha Bay. Experience some of Vietnam’s most spectacular coastal landscapes on board this intimate, boutique vessel, with just five luxury cabins.
Far from the busy waterways of Halong Bay, amongst soaring limestone islands and clear, calm waters, the Orchid Premium Cruise offers new levels of luxury in the coastal landscapes of northern Vietnam. Sailing through the ethereally beautiful oceanic waterways of Lan Ha Bay, this five-cabin ship is designed like a floating luxury hotel, with immaculate attention to detail and elegant interiors, reflecting Vietnam’s colonial history.
The five cabins each feature their own private balcony, complete with sun loungers just perfect for a morning coffee with a view. Designed like a contemporary, stylish hotel room, they each feature stunning hardwood floors, hand woven textiles and comfortable beds, all with en-suite bathrooms with standalone tubs and powerful showers. All cabins come with their own English-speaking butler, who is happy to arrange room service, sunset drinks or assist with any needs or activities whilst on board.
The main heart of the vessel centres around the elegant dining room, where delicious Vietnamese and western dishes are prepared and served by top chefs, using fantastic local produce. Drinks are served at the on-deck bar, adjacent to the spacious sun deck that houses the outdoor Jacuzzi. As the vessel sails through the densely-forested islands, it will drop anchor to allow for kayak adventures around the islands, or refreshing swims in the calm, clear waters. On board, the chefs lead guided cookery lessons to discover the art of Vietnamese cuisine, and a Tai Chi master is on hand to teach the ancient Taoist discipline as the sun rises over the bay. Visit local fishing villages, enjoy the spectacular sunsets over the Gulf of Tonkin, and bask in the attentive service and unparalleled levels of luxury on the waters of Lan Ha Bay.
The Orchid Premium Cruise cabins are stylish, spacious and elegant, furnished in a luxurious Vietnamese style with exotic wood furniture, marble bathrooms and fine fabrics. All cabins feature their own private balcony to watch the watery world pass by and a luxurious en-suite bathroom, with some of the cabins offering additional beds for families travelling together. The impressive Orchid Premium Exclusive Suite is spread over 65 square metres, with a wraparound deck and a private jacuzzi. All cabins come complete with a full butler service.
Children are welcome on board the Orchid Premium Cruise, with two of the cabins designed specifically with families in mind, with extra beds and space to spread out. As with any cruise, children must be supervised at all times and due to the design of the vessel, this may not be suitable for very young children.
Days spent on board the Orchid Premium Cruise are filled with fantastic sightseeing and a myriad of thrilling activities. Swim in the jade-green waters of Lan Ha Bay, diving from the boat and making for the small hidden coves and beaches that pepper the oceanic landscape. Take the kayaks to explore the limestone islands, through sea caves and into hidden bays, looking out for wildlife and sea life en-route. On board, join in a guided Tai Chi lesson on deck, or try your hand at Vietnamese cookery with a lesson under the expert tutelage of the head chef. As night falls, enjoy sunset drinks on the top deck, perhaps watch a movie or fish for squid over the side of the vessel, which will be prepared and served for lunch the following day.
The Orchid Premium Cruise charts a course for tranquil Lan Ha Bay, a short two-hour drive from Hanoi. Cruises depart from the port at Hai Phong, sailing through the clear waters of Lan Ha Bay, past Cat Ba island through the stunning limestone islands of the bay.
