Kauai is a year round destination with a tropical climate, with the very best months being April to September. Temperatures are high throughout the year but never excessive, as humidity levels are manageable. There is a rainy season from December to March which is also ironically, the tourism high season, when the scenery is at its most lush and long, hot days break up the rainy spells.

In the beautiful Poipu Beach area of Southern Kaua'i, the Grand Hyatt Kaua'i Resort and Spa offers a myriad of facilities, stunning tropical gardens and lagoon pools directly on the beach. A perfect choice for a relaxing family resort vacation.
Located on 50 immaculately landscaped acres right on the beach front in Poipu, the Grand Hyatt really does tick all the boxes for a one stop luxury resort hotel on this beautiful island. From the cacophony of lagoon pools set in tiers down from the top of the resort all the way to the ocean front, to the salt water lagoon and beautiful tropical gardens, it's a sight to behold.
Set over two wings, the 602 guest rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed with delightful Hawaiian touches. The Grand Club offers a touch of exclusivity and is well worth adding to a stay with an exclusive lounge offering complimentary breakfast and special room amenities.
The pools cascade down toward the ocean with a dedicated adult-only pool at the top and a lazy river winding its way through the terraces, culminating with a slide into the main part of the pool. Hammocks are strewn between trees and wooden swing seats set up to enjoy the surroundings and sea views along the ocean walkway. A salt water lagoon is the perfect place to practice snorkeling or diving as the ocean is a little rough for swimming most of the time. The ocean to the left though is a prime spot for surfers who are often heading into the waves in the early morning or just before sunset.
There is a delightful array of dining options from the Seaview terrace, perfect for relaxed evenings with live music through to the romantic and intimate setting of Tidepools in the midst of the koi pond.
The Anara Spa transports guests to the East with Balinese style indoor / outdoor massage rooms in tranquil gardens. Along with a nearby golf course, tennis courts and an array of activities close by, there is plenty to keep the whole family busy. The children's club is open for children aged 3 to 12 years with fun loving camp counsellors arranging tailor made activities to suit the groups interest.
With Waimea Canyon less than an hour away, a choice of interesting shops and restaurants within an easy drive and less than 30 minutes from Lihue airport, the Grand Hyatt really has one of the best locations for exploring the island yet returning to a first class setting each day.
There are 602 guest rooms and 37 suites of which 70% are either partial or full ocean view to make the most of the enviable position of the resort. Each of the rooms features a private furnished lanai, a seating area, choice of King or two double beds, TV, coffee maker and in room safes. All have air conditioning and complimentary WiFi. Plantation style furnishings, ceiling fans and earth tones bring in the warmth of the Hawaiian setting.
The Grand Club offers exclusive amenities such as a private lounge with continental breakfast, beverage service and late afternoon hors d'ouevres as well as special amenities for guests.
Honeymooners are welcomed with complimentary in room amenities to make that special getaway even more special.
Children are particularly welcome at the hotel and they will love the winding pools, water slide and salt water lagoon. There is a dedicated area just for families in the pools as well.
Camp Hyatt is available for 3-12 year olds at additional cost and offers a year-round program of daily themed activities which include Hawaiian cultural themes and arts and crafts. There is also an evening club for when parents wish to dine alone.
Connecting rooms are also available at the hotel and can be guaranteed at time of booking.
The resort offers extensive facilities for guests which include a beautiful tiered pool system with an adult pool at the top, lazy river and an activity pool at the bottom as well as a 150 ft water slide. In addition there is a salt water lagoon with beach style entry for snorkeling, kayaking and diving lessons. There is also 500 yards of beach, however, this can have strong currents so isn't always suitable for swimming, although is a popular surfing spot. The resort also offers a choice of restaurants depending on the guests' mood. For relaxed dining, the Sea View Terrace offers lounge style food, perfect for sundowners, and live music most evenings. Ilima Terrace offers an extensive buffet breakfast and lunch overlooking the lake and gardens. Dondero's offers intimate dining indoors with an Italian flair. Tide Pools is the hotel's signature restaurant with fine dining overlooking the Koi pond. Stevenson's Lounge offers sushi and spirits and is attached to the Captain's Bar, a poolside lounge and bar for the evenings. For relaxed lunchtime fare, Hale Nalu at the poolside and Shipwreck Bar are the "go to" destinations. There is also a Lu'Au on Thursday and Saturday evenings for the definitive Hawaiian culture experience.
The Anara Spa offers an immersion into pampering with it's own tranquil pool and terrace area, hot tubs and whirlpool baths. Treatments are taken in airy indoor / outdoor rooms or in the lush tropical gardens in Balinese style thatched bungalows.
Guests can take part in an array of activities. For those more active, there is a full gym and weight room, as well as three hard tennis courts and a tennis professional on site. There are also mountain bikes to rent. The PoipuBay Resort Golf Course is a 210 acre links style golf course and driving range, bordering the ocean and with it's own pro shop, lounge and restaurant.
There is an abundance of activities close by including horse riding, surfing, snorkeling, diving, deep sea fishing and freshwater bass fishing. For days out, the Waimea Canyon is less than an hour's drive away and offers breath-taking views and some great hiking. Helicopter tours of the island also depart from Lihue airport, less than 30 minutes away.
There are restaurants and shopping within an easy drive of the resort so a rental car is strongly recommended during your stay.

This is a big place! A little overwhelming to begin with as you enter this incredible lobby which leads your eye right out toward the ocean which you can see clearly from the moment you walk in. This is very clever planning as it's like you can feel yourself relax before you've even got to your room. This place is all about vacation, from the multitude of restaurants through to the lazy river, oodles of lawns, tropical trees and those thundering waves crashing on to the glorious white sandy beach. It has those tick boxes in spade and it would be easy to imagine never leaving this place for the whole time you are here. It has everything for a relaxing and fun family vacation even down to it's own salt water lagoon with beach as the beach itself here is a little rough for swimming. Your biggest decision is where you go for dinner, whether it's a romantic table for 2 at Tidepools or a relaxed lounge terrace supper with the family while listening to chilled out live music. Do you sit in a hammock or on a sun lounger, do you swim in the lagoon or take a float down the lazy river??? These are the decisions of life here at the Grand Hyatt, it has relaxation all over it and for a big hotel it feels surprisingly uncrowded, unhurried and chilled out. You'd be forgiven for not leaving but with this beautiful island easily accessible, do leave at least once or twice before heading back for dinner.
