A National historical landmark, The Majestic Yosemite Hotel, formerly The Ahwahnee, is the original Yosemite National Park lodging built in 1927. The hotel is constructed of sugar-pine logs and features Native American design motifs; the grand public spaces are decorated with colonial style oriental rugs, and elaborate iron- and woodwork. Guest Rooms are located in the main lodge, or in cottage-style buildings within the lodge grounds. The hotel is the most luxurious option within Yosemite Park, but guests must allow for the idiosyncratic quirks of a historical park lodging. The hotel offers a full time concierge, daily maid service and turn down on request. Guests staying at the hotel are staying there for the careful service, the location in the valley and to dine in the beautiful Dining Room with its ceiling to floor stain glass windows and formal air. The Lounge, with its tiered ceiling, has comfortable lounging chairs and a quiet relaxed ambience and adjoining rooms feature cosy chairs, historical photographs and books on flora and fauna.
The historical nature of the hotel means that interconnecting lodge rooms are not available, and the grand nature of the hotel makes it best suited to couples in search of getting the best of Yosemite's hiking and biking trails, or families with teenage children.
Guest Rooms come with king beds or two queen beds located within the main lodge, or within the cottages in the hotel grounds. The lodge rooms come with much needed air conditioning in the summer months. Each room is unique and the classic or featured room categories come with varying views whether it is over Yosemite Falls (best seen in the Spring), the meadows or Glaciar Point. The rooms themselves have original features, and built in cabinets and storage. Some 'featured rooms' come complete with shared viewing decks or private balconies to take in the valley views.

When to go
Yosemite is an all-year round destination, best visited from spring through to autumn. From late June to September, the entire park is accessible and all visitor facilities from hotels, cabins, campsites and eateries are running at maximum capacity. During the months of July and August guests should expect traffic and lots of people as it is the most popular time to visit the park to hike, river raft, horse ride and climb. Those wanting to enjoy Yosemite Falls should visit in May when the falls are at their best and there are less crowds. Fall also brings less crowds and crisp sunny weather, although by September the falls will have dried up. Less people travel to Yosemite in the winter, although when the snow falls - often in October - the park is turned into a winter playground with sledging, skiing and ice skating on offer.
