Kanantik Reef & Jungle Resort is an intimate, secluded beach front resort located in Southern Belize. With a strong commitment to environmental principles - the resort is backed by 300 acres of private reserve - and a laid back atmosphere, Kanantik really does provide a great place to hide away and enjoy splendid isolation.
The 25 private, thatched-roof cabanas are situated in lush tropical gardens and front a sandy beach. Beautifully constructed from native timber, the cabanas are spacious and have lovely shaded sit-out areas. The public areas are architecturally impressive with soaring Mayan roofs and a lovely pool. The restaurant has a wood-fired oven and serves everything from authentic pizzas (the owner Roberto is a charming Italian) to Creole seafood specialties, and an atmospheric bar is a great place to sip a Belizean rum punch in the evenings.
Activities are plentiful. Some of the finest scuba diving in the New World is to be had on the reef a short ride away on one of the resort's two dive launches. You can also visit the Cockscomb Basin Jaguar Reserve, where monkeys, jaguars and brilliant bird life can be seen, and trips further afield to the Mayan sites in the highlands and river canoeing can easily be arranged.
The 25, private, thatched roof cabanas at Kanantik provide the ultimate in indulgence. Spacious and airy, each cabana is secluded, private and intimate. Designed with an ancient world Mayan feel, the cabanas feature soaring thatched roofs, local hardwood floors, draped four-poster king-size beds (double bedding available), handmade comfortable furnishings, a large bathroom with a luxurious rain shower, and an expansive deck with amazing views, all with contemporary Belizean flair.
Kanantik welcomes families with children aged 14 years and over, and babysitting can be arranged upon request, but there are no specific facilities or interconnecting rooms.

When to go
Belize's climate is marked by two distinct seasons, the rainy season (June to November) and the dry season (December to May). The coldest month is January and the warmest temperatures are in May. Summers in San Pedro Town and the other Cayes strung out along the Barrier Reef are much milder than on the Belizean mainland, due to the proximity to the Sea and the cooling effects of the easterly trade winds and cloud cover which hold temperatures in the high 20's/ low 30's.
The busier time of the year for travelers to Belize is November to May, which are the winter months of the Northern Hemisphere. Still, many visitors prefer the more quiet days of the summer months from June to October for their vacation in Belize.
