Enjoy a healthy injection of culture and adventure whilst exploring jungle and Maya ruins. There will also be plenty of time to relax on idyllic beaches whilst sipping rum cocktails and snorkelling amongst exotic fish and colourful coral in the world’s second-largest barrier reef.

  1. Fly to Belize City

  2. Days 1-4: Ambergris Caye, Ambergris Caye & Private Islands, Belize

Upon arrival in Belize City, you will connect with your short scenic hopper flight to the picturesque island of Ambergris Caye. Grab a window seat as the views of the reef are stunning from the air. When you touch down, you will be picked up in a golf cart and driven five minutes to the pier for your private boat transfer to Matachica. The ride to your island paradise retreat will take just 15 minutes.

You’ll spend the next few days doing as little or as much as you like. Hangout in hammock whilst listening to the palm trees swaying in the wind and the waves gently rolling in, get stuck into your holiday read whilst soaking up some sun and work your way through the hotel’s extensive drinks menu.  If you can tear yourself away from the sun lounger, grab a snorkel and mask and explore the exotic undersea world or head out across the turquoise waters on one of the resorts kayaks. Ambergris Caye also has access to some of the best dive spots in Central America, at the famous Blue Hole you can expect to see an array of tropical marine life including nurse sharks, whales and turtles.

Accommodation: Matachica Resort and Spa (3 nights)

  3. Days 4-7: Mountain Pine Ridge, Mayan Mountains, Belize

From Matachica, you will take the boat back to the small airport where you will board a flight and enjoy another scenic journey as you fly over lush green jungle and rolling hills before arriving at San Ignacio on the mainland.

The next few days will be spent at the beautiful Gaia River Lodge, sleeping in a cabana with a thatched roof that blends seamlessly into the surrounding Mountain Pine Ridge area. There are loads of activities on offer here; from hiking jungle trails to bird watching, tubing down rivers and exploring cave systems, there is something to appeal to all interests. You can escape the heat by taking a plunge in the refreshing natural swimming pools at the base of the nearby waterfall and there’s a decadent spa offering soothing massages and rejuvenating treatments. There’s plenty of wildlife around too, with playful groups of monkeys swinging through the trees and cute coatis roaming the grounds looking for fallen fruit. The mysterious Mayan site of Caracol, shrouded by extensive rainforest, is close to the lodge, so take a step back in time and learn about ancient Mayan history, their customs, beliefs and sacrificial ceremonies.

Accommodation: Gaia River Lodge (3 nights)

  4. Days 7-11: Placencia, Placencia, Belize

After a final delicious breakfast (the locally grown tropical fruit is outrageously good), you will take a four-hour drive to the laid-back beach village of Placencia on the Caribbean coast. Although you might be tempted to snooze, the route is incredibly scenic - it isn't called the Hummingbird Highway for nothing!

Your last few days will be spent on Belize’s sun-drenched South Coast. Placencia is a tiny village, relatively untouched by tourism and has a super friendly Caribbean atmosphere. Spend your days topping up your tan, relaxing on the beach or beside the pool with an ice-cold beverage, cycling around the colourful Creole town or take a boat trip to an uninhabited island in the middle of the ocean where you can enjoy mouth-watering grilled lobster. Back at the hotel watch the sunset whilst dining with your feet in the sand. This is a properly blissful spot to enjoy the last days of your holiday.

    Accommodation: Turtle Inn (4 nights)

  5. Fly home via Belize City

Savour the last drop of your morning coffee, after breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your overnight flight back to the UK.
