Placencia is located very close to the equator. The tropical weather is usually hot and humid, with humidity often reaching 90%. Placencia has higher humidity than many other parts of the country. Temperatures remain pretty much constant throughout the year at an average of 24-27°C, and thanks to the sea there is not much difference between daytime and night time temperatures either. Seasons are defined in terms of precipitation, with marked wet and dry times of year. The rainy season lasts from May to November and the dry season from February to April or May.

The focus of a stay here is total relaxation, with all of the resort's accommodation and facilities centred around a spoiling spa which is a sanctuary in the heart of the jungle. Set upon a lagoon, the spa boasts five over the water treatment rooms, a fully equipped fitness suite and a yoga studio, as well as the Waterside Cafe which serves up delicious healthy snacks and fresh juices. Other dining options include the signature restaurant 1981 and a casual poolside beach bar, serving locally sourced produce where possible.
Accommodation is decidedly modern and comprises 35 individual houses and treetop villas, many boasting private plunge pools and terraces. All of the Beach Houses feature a private veranda with direct beach access, AC and ceiling fans, full kitchen with fresh gourmet coffee beans ready to grind, Smart TV, Bose sound systems, WiFi and private outdoor showers, as well as deep soaking tubs. There is plenty of space here to continue your relaxation and the beach is just steps away.
For houses and tree-top villas without a private pool, there is a large shared swimming pool with space for lounging or swimming laps, whichever takes your fancy. Attentive staff are at hand throughout to ensure everything you need is taken care of, whether you crave tropical cocktails, require a fresh towel or simply need some extra shade. Nothing is too much trouble, leaving you to get into the zen spirit of things.
There are 35 individual beach houses and tree-top villas at Naia Resort & Spa, many of which boast a private pool, private veranda and direct beach access. All are modern and polished, boasting original local artwork, as well as products that help to support the local community. All feature AC and ceiling fans, king-size beds, private outdoor showers, deep soaking tubs, coffee maker and fresh gourmet coffee beans, smart TV, Bose soundsystem, WiFi, safe, flashlight, umbrellas and luxurious amenities & soft furnishings.
Facilities include an extensive spa, with five over the water treatment rooms, a couples treatment suite, a yoga studio and a cafe serving fresh juices and light healthy meals. The 1981 Restaurant is the resort's signature restaurant, while the poolside beach bar offers more casual dining. Other facilities include a large saltwater swimming pool, a watersports dock with kayaks and paddleboards and a gift shop. Bicycles are available for use.
