You will be met at your hotel and transferred to the dock to board a small boat. Silently glide along the still water through dense jungle, keeping your eyes peeled for Morelet's crocodiles, iguanas and herons. Once you are deep within the jungle, disembark and head along a series of trails on foot for a moderate, 40-minute hike where you may spot howler monkeys, toucans and other tropical species. Your naturalist guide will help you to spot the wildlife whilst teaching you about the flora and fauna, focusing on medicinal plants and natural medicines.
Following a stop for lunch, explore Monkey River Town on foot, a small fishing community which runs without electricity. You will then return to Placencia, gliding alongside mangroves where you may be fortunate enough to spot manatees in the water!
