Movie Director Francis Ford Coppola’s Turtle Inn is a rustic Indonesian style beach retreat set back from a narrow stretch of pearly white sands gently lapped by the Caribbean Sea on Belize’s southern coast, outside the sleepy Creole village of Placencia.
Highlights
Nestled between the jungle and the longest coral reef in the Western hemisphere
Offers superb scuba diving around the cayes and bays of Belize's Caribbean coast
On mainland Belize rather than on a remote caye so within reach of country's interior attractions too
Ideal for honeymooners and couples looking to get away from it all and the gorgeous villas are superb for families too
Turtle Inn is an oceanfront hideaway with 25 individual thatched beach huts in the Stann Creek district of Belize. Charming cottages and villas of bleached thatch and native wood mingle with palm trees and are naturally cooled by the ever-present sea breezes. Each of the accommodations has beautiful artisan-crafted furnishings and just beyond the private deck white Caribbean sands dissolve into a clear water world of unspoilt coral reefs and exotic fish.
Turtle Inn offers three distinct restaurants where one can savour mouthwatering seafood dishes, home grown fruits and vegetables or pizza from their authentic wood-burning stove. The Turtle Inn also features the Sunset Spa, an open-air Balinese Rice House decorated with painted murals inspired by ancient art and boasts stunning views of the Placencia Lagoon. The spa specialises in Thai massage and only uses locally-sourced organic ingredients for its treatments. In addition, two swimming pools offer a choice of freshwater and saltwater bathing.
Experience the world’s best salt water fly-fishing or snorkel in miles of untouched barrier reef. Visit the world’s only jaguar reserve or cruise up the Monkey River and observe tropical birds, iguanas, manatees, crocodiles and howler monkeys.
