Dar Seven, in Marrakech is a unique hotel which has just 4 rooms, to ensure that your visit will be a truly individual experience. It is located in the hustle and bustle of the city, not far from the Ben Sallah square, which has a constant flow of traffic, carts, livestock and people to keep you entertained whilst you sip coffee at one of the nearby cafes.
The Riad itself was refurbished just a few years ago under the watchful eye of Gerome Vermelin, a celebrated interior designer. He has styled the property in light colors to give it a modern and elegant feel, but it maintains a sense of tradition through the furniture and fittings.
The hotel chef provides a homemade breakfast daily and lunch and dinner by request. Due to the size of the hotel, it is normally rented by one group of friends or family, so the meals and ingredients on offer can vary to suit your liking.
The Dar Seven has no on site activities as such, however, this means you have the chance to explore the magical city of Marrakech in more detail. Our top picks are spending a morning wandering through the Medina, a maze of colorful souks full of food, herbs, spices and clothing; people watch at the main square with an evening aperitif; take a hot air balloon ride to really see the magic that surrounds this unique city and visit some of the amazing restaurants that serve traditional Moroccan cuisine with superb local wines.
They also have a pool located 15 minutes from the hotel in a gorgeous garden le Coin Caché. Entrance costs 40 EUR person and includes a fantastic lunch and return transfers.
The 4 rooms at the Dar Seven have been decorated in pale linens and traditional furniture, and the combination of the two has a fantastic effect. The most popular room is the White Room, which is the largest on offer and it located over looking the central courtyard. It features a large 4 poster bed, draped with white linen and is light and airy - it is the perfect 'master bedroom' when used exclusively by one family. Rooms range from 15-30 sq m.
The other 3 rooms, the Loggia, the Brown Room and the Guest Room, are also light and airy, and most are large enough to fit an extra bed, should you need it. They also have en-suite, elegant bathrooms which exude luxury.
The Dar Seven does not offer any facilities for kids, however, extra beds and cots can be arranged on request in each room apart from the Twin Brown Room. The Loggia Room and Brown Room have connecting doors, creating a perfect family suite. Children are also free of charge when sharing their parents' room.
Each morning a freshly made breakfast is served in the Dar Seven's dining room or on the roof terrace. Lunch and dinner is cooked to order and on request, so if you find yourself lost in the Medina and fancy a bit to eat in one of the local restaurants, it's not a problem.
For those who do want to eat in the hotel, the chef can whip up traditional Moroccan feasts of salad, tagine and fresh fruit, sourced from the souks which are within staggering distance of the property.
For special occasions, Marrakech has some restaurants which are simply unmissable and should definitely feature on your vacation to do list.
A 15 minute drive from the riad in a secret garden, is a private pool, which can be used by the hotel guests. Entry is 40 EUR per person which includes a delicious lunch in the fantastic setting. Free transport to and from the pool is on offer meaning you barely have to lift a finger!
