Tobogganing in Finnish Lapland
A toboggan differs from most sleds or sleighs in that it has no runners or skis (or only low ones) on the underside. The bottom of a toboggan rides directly on the snow.
The traditional toboggan is made of bound, parallel wood slats although modern toboggans can also be made of aluminum or plastic. In Finnish Lapland there are slopes dedicated to tobogganing so you do not need to worry about getting in the way of any hikers or snowmobiles.
