Average time to visit
Winter is the perfect time to visit Finnish Lapland. The winter temperatures can vary anywhere between 0°C and -40°C. The average temperature in January is -14°C, but the cold is not biting because the air is dry. There can be as much as one metre of snow and it usually lasts until May. There is potential for Northern Lights viewing throughout the winter months.

As I gazed out onto the snowy wilderness next to the roaring fire, cosy in my woollen socks, I felt complete content and peace and a level of relaxation you can only get staying in somewhere completely private. My silence was only broken by our chef, inviting us to the table to announce that dinner was ready. As I feasted my way through courses of delicious soups, vegetables and meats I was glad I couple collapse back on the armchair, with a full belly, exhausted from a day exploring in the snow. Scott Dunn's range of luxury chalets are perfect for spending quality time together as a group, relaxing in the comfort of your own living room to enjoy your time in Lapland at your own pace.
