Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
The Guangxi region experiences a subtropical climate, with short, cold winters and long, humid summers with monsoon rains. The majority of the rains fall in May and June, bringing with them intense humidity but turning the stunning landscape the most luscious shades of green. The winter months are damp and windy, with average temperatures hovering around 8°C. Spring and Autumn are the prime times to visit Guanxi, with pleasant temperatures, sunny skies and minimal rainfall.

-
Days 1-3: Anshun
Arriving into Guiyang, you will be transferred into the famous Huangguoshu Waterfall to admire the magnificent cascade before continuing into Anshun.
Enjoy a day trip to Suoga Village, known for the Longhorn Miao ethnic groups with its magnificent headdresses. The ladies here are known to adorn two horn-liked combs which holds their hair up to 3 kilogrammes. Afterwards, visit the Anshun Confucius Temple before taking a rest for the night.
Accommodation: DoubleTree by Hilton Anshun (2 nights)
-
Days 3-4: Kaili
From Anshun, you will be transferred with en route stops at Yunfengtun Stone Village and Kaili Matang Gejia Village.
The incredibly well-preserved stone village of Yunfengtun also harbours hidden tunnels and the locals here maintain their ancient dressing style due to its relative isolation.
Afterwards, you will gain insight into the ethnic Gejia with their distinctive ceremonial costumes and batik traditions at the Kaili Matang village before continuing into Kaii.
Kaili is known as the centre of the Miao culture and hosts several festivals throughout the year. While you are here, we will visit the Qingman Miao Village with their colourful dresses, as well as the Shiqiao village to witness the ancient paper-making tradition, before finally arriving in Danzhai.
Accommodation: Gleetour Hotel (1 night)
-
Days 4-5: Danzhai
After a night of rest in Danzhai, we continue to visit off-the-beaten Dong villages such as Yintan, Zhanli and Huanggang.
Yintan is among the most well-known due to its well-preserved cloth-weaving and fabric-dyeing tradition. Situated in the dense jungle is Zhanli where time looks like they stand still. Due to its relative isolation, the Huanggang village is a true gem which offers some of the most authentic insights into Dong culture.
Accommodation: Wanda Jin Hotspring Danzhai (1 night)
-
Days 5-7: Zhaoxing
The picturesque Zhaoxing is anchored by its magnificent drum towers, as well as rain and wind bridges. We will take the time to explore this quaint town, as well as the nearby Tang'an with its picturesque mountain-side paddy field settings, and Sanjiang with some of the region's best-preserved drum towers and bridges.
An optional performance of Grand Songs of the Dong, inscribed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, can also be arranged.
Accommodation: Indigo Lodge Zhaoxing (2 nights)
-
Days 7-8: Longsheng, Guangxi & Around, China
One of the highlight of your journey is the magnificent hike through the Dragon's Backbone in Longsheng. Quite a number of ethnic groups also live in the area, and you will get to hike into minority tribe villages of the Zhuang and Yao.
Afterwards, we transfer for approximately 3.5 hours into Yangshuo.
Accommodation: LongJi One Art Hotel (1 night)
-
Days 8-10: Yangshuo
While Yangshuo has gained superstardom, we think no visit to the region is complete without visiting the iconic, picturesque karst landscape of the Yulong River. Enjoy a bamboo rafting experience, as well as biking or hiking along the river.
Optional Yangshuo Impression night show is also available for those who are interested to admire the magnificent spectacle which features more than 600 actors and actresses.
Accommodation: Yangshuo Resort (2 nights)
