China has four distinct seasons - a pleasant warm spring, a hot rainy summer, a comfortable cool autumn and a cold winter. The hottest time comes in July and August and the coldest time is from the late January to early February.

Your trip begins in Beijing which really is the cultural heart of the country and the best place to dive into your adventure. We have included three nights here to find your feet and enjoy as many activities as possible, with your private guide. Beijing is known for its fascinating historical quarters, palaces and of course the Great Wall of China, and with teenagers we can arrange for some fantastic and different ways to experience all of these areas. Starting off, we have included a quick introduction Chinese lesson to get everyone in the mood for the trip going forward and to kick start the competitive spirit on who has the best grasp of the language over the trip. Then over the next couple of nights, you'll have jam packed days full of interesting sites. On your visit to the Great Wall of China the kids can enjoy a toboggan ride down the wall itself and when exploring the traditional Hutongs, we have included a sidecar tour to get you around.
In the evenings enjoy the buzzing streets of Beijing and make sure that you visit the famous Beijing night market where the brave ones can try out some of the local delicacies including silk worms and tarantulas! For those interested in the new side of Beijing, definitely take a trip to the 798 District which is full of cool cafes and fantastic pop up art galleries.

After three nights in Beijing you’ll continue on to Xian by highspeed train. Xian is the home to the mighty Terracotta Army and we have included two nights for you here, plenty of time to take in all the sites. Each warrior in the Terracotta Army is completely unique with different facial features and slightly different poses and your guide will talk you through the incredible history of the site. Alongside the Terracotta Army we have also included a bicycle tour around the old city walls which is a great way to explore Xian. On one evening we would definitely suggest heading into the Islamic Quarter which has an interesting night food market and great place to wander around for a couple of hours.

From Xian, you’ll take an internal flight to Guilin and from here transfer just over an hour to Yangshuo where you will be spending your next three nights. Yangshuo is mesmerising with its dramatic landscapes and mountains towering above the meandering river and completely different to the other areas of China that you have already visited. In Yangshuo there is a huge amount to keep everyone busy including floating along the river on a Bamboo Raft, enjoying the spectacular Impression Show which is a beautiful evening experience played out over the water and of course walking and cycling in the surrounding countryside. For those that are interested we can also arrange rock climbing in the limestone karsts. Like in Beijing and Xian you will have a private guide and driver throughout your stay, showing you all the highlights.

At a Glance
The last stop on your trip will be Shanghai which you will reach by a short flight from Guilin. This city has such a fantastic cosmopolitan feel and really is where east meets west. We have included three nights for you here to take in all the buzz and hype that comes with this metropolis, exploring the French Colonial District, funky boutique and art scene, enjoying the view from the numerous sky towers and indulging in the incredible restaurants here.
