The Banyan Tree is the newest luxury hotel in this part of the country and they have done an excellent job with it. The hotel sits right on the river which links Yangshou with neighbouring Guilin and feels very green, and verdant with its own internal lily pond and surrounded by mountains covered in foliage. The hotel is made up of individual villas all with some sort of terrace or outdoor space. If you can try and get one that looks out over the river itself as views are lovely. There is an outdoor swimming pool and the whole place really has the air of a calming retreat. The dcor inside the rooms is very modern and there are some great 2 bedroom options for families. An excellent option for anyone visiting this part of China. Do note that the hotel is not in central Yangshou so you will need to arrange a taxi to take you in and out of town if you would like to travel in for dinner.
