Jinshanling Hike at The Great Wall

Get away from the crowds as you trek a remote section of the Great Wall of China with a guide, along crumbling ramparts and past watchtowers with exceptional views over the surrounding rugged countryside.

Jinshanling Hike at The Great Wall

Leaving Beijing’s busy streets behind you’ll drive out into the countryside for 2.5 hours before reaching the eastern side of Jinshanling. Here you’ll take a short walk through the woods to the Kylin Tower for a safety briefing before joining the wall to begin your 3-4 hour trek from Jinshanling’s eastern gate to its western exit.

With little in the way of restoration, this part of the wall retains an authentic, crumbling appearance, as rugged as the hills that surround it. Clamber up a few challenging gradients to appreciate the stunning views, and enjoy the informative commentary of your expert guide as he talks through the origins, history, construction and design of this most iconic of structures. As you near the Shanlingkou tower you can take a well-earned rest with a delicious picnic lunch in scenic surrounds before a short walk to the village from where you’ll be driven back to Beijing.
