Description

Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi is a beautiful contemporary boutique hotel that carries a long and interesting history dating back to the 12th century. The stunning Arab-Norman cloister and church have maintained some of their original frescoes and other details and look spectacular against the backdrop of the sea.

Convento di Amalfi is fantastically positioned a 2-minute walk from the hustle and bustle of the port of Amalfi as well as the local shops and restaurants. The central location makes it a great base from which to explore not only the town but also the rest of what the stunning coast has to offer such as the gorgeous towns of Positano and Ravello.

The hotel has 53 rooms and suites are elegant and contemporary and decorated in a simple and neutral style. They all offer spectacular sea views, lovely Italian terracotta floors and marble bathrooms.

Dei Cappuccini, the hotel's restaurant spills from inside the dining room to the outdoor terrace and overlooks the sea and the Amalfi Coast. Delicious Mediterranean dishes are made with the freshest ingredients and served for lunch and supper and there is a spectacular buffet for breakfast each morning! There is also a bar serving cocktails and a wide selection of teas.

A short walk along the lovely lemon garden takes you to the terrace and infinity pool area which is kitted out with sun loungers, beautiful views and a poolside restaurant and bar that serves snacks and drinks until 6pm and light lunches from 1-3pm.

There is also a wellbeing center that has a number of treatment rooms, a Turkish bath and emotional shower and there is also a gym available to all guests.

If you wanted to venture out of the hotel and enjoy the sea the hotel has a beach club that also has a bar and restaurant and you have complimentary use of sun loungers down there and complimentary 10-minute boat transfers from Amalfi.

Junior Suite

Charming room with window sea view, some featuring a living area, stylish furnishings with terracotta floors and marble bathroom with bathtub or shower. The range from 22 to 40m².

Deluxe Junior Suite

Childcare

Children are welcome to come and stay at Convento di Amalfi. However, there are no dedicated facilities available at the hotel though they can organize babysitting.

A full range of activities nearby are available for more active guests: trekking, cycling, horse riding, sailing, windsurfing and diving can all be arranged.

Excursions with private boat to explore the unspoiled coastline and the neighboring islands can be also organized.

Guided visits to the stunning towns dotted along the Amalfi Coast can be arranged to Positano, Ravello, Sorrento and also to Pompeii, Herculaneam, Vesuvius, Naples and Paestum.

When to go

The best time to visit is in spring (April to early June) or autumn (September and October). In summer the climate is hot and humid and the coast’s single road (SS163) is heaving, and often has long tailbacks. The beaches, restaurants and tourist attractions are full to the brim in the summer months.
