Cape Cod: with 44,000 acres of white ocean beaches, green forests and pristine lakes, cute villages and lively arty towns, this enigmatic peninsula offers a dazzling array of activities from the relaxed and laid back beach life to action packed. The Wequassett Resort & Golf Club sits on 27 acres of gardens, salt marshes and woodlands near Chatham on the 'elbow' of Cape Cod overlooking the calm boat-filled waters of Pleasant Bay, with the Atlantic behind.
The Wequassett offers the facilities of a resort yet manages to seem personal and intimate at the same time. The resort is made up of 120 rooms, with a number of typical cottages from the region which gives it a timeless and residential feel.
The spacious suites or snug private cottages are designed to reflect the seashore presence of the Cape. The signature suites come with gas fireplaces, marble bathrooms and plenty of room for relaxing. All rooms at Wequassett offer a private deck or terrace for enjoying the outdoors. The garden view rooms are best suited for those that don't intend to spend much of their time in their rooms as they can overlook the gardens, or other residences and parking. In all rooms, you'll find Molton Brown bath amenities to add to the little indulgence.
The resort offers an array of activities during the summer season, including two swimming pools (one is an adult only lap pool) and four tennis courts, boat rentals and sailing lessons, cooking classes, water sports from kayaking to paddle boarding and movie nights as well as the daily program offered at the Children’s Center. The resort also has an old-fashioned penny candy store and the vintage-style Good Humor truck that drives around delivering frozen treats to guests.
At Twenty-eight Atlantic, you can have the Petite Clam Bake—butter-poached lobster, Gold potatoes, and corn pudding—while gazing at the bay through the eight-foot windows. Come cocktail hour, head to the clubby Thoreau’s and sink into a leather chair by the granite fireplace or drink under the stars at Libaytion or by the fire-pit. There are also weekly clambakes and barbecues by the pool and for casual dining day and night the Outer Bar looks right over the hotel pool and bay.
Wequasset has a selection of elegant suites and rooms, that can combine to make family-sized single level 'cottages' if required. They are all complete with sea-side inspired furnishings, luxury linens, and terraces or balconies. While the signature water view rooms are the most highly prized, the garden view rooms will suit guests who do not intend to spend as much time in their room.
Children are welcome to come and stay at Wequasset. There is a new kids center at the hotel that offers innovative, fun and educational programming for children age 2-12 years old. The center features a large HD screen, a WII, a PlayStationm, a nautical themed playground with pirate ships and aquatic playground.
Twenty-eight Atlantic is the resort's fine dining restaurant with a 180-degree view of the waterfront where you can experience dinner Cape Cod style. The creative menu is inspired by seasonal produce and traditional dishes. Thoreau's is a club like bar adjacent to Twenty-eight Atlantic where you can be tempted by their extensive wine list and cocktail selection not to mention their delicious menu. Libaytion is the beach front bar with wonderful water views. Open during the summer months, the bar offers a stylish drinks menu and light dishes for lunch.
During your stay at Wequasset you will not be at a loss for things to do. Tennis enthusiasts will benefit from the four new courts at the resort. There is the magnificent main pool with its stunning backdrop of Pleasant Bay as well as a lap pool. A shuttle service takes guests to nearby beaches. There are several watersports on offer such as sailing, power boating and kayaking - you could opt for either a tour or a lesson. A sunset cruise is the perfect way to end your day and take in the memorable sight of the sun setting with a cocktail in hand. And of course, there is the adjacent Cape Cod National Golf Club where guests have membership to play or enrol for lessons.
