Offering the ultimate private island experience, Coral Caye is a rustic yet luxurious barefoot property which sits a short boat ride from Placencia. Surrounded by the sparkling Caribbean it is a true paradise where the only sound is the lapping waves.
Ideal for a family getaway or couples' escape, Coral Caye is an idyllic private island off the coast of Belize which offers a rustic yet luxurious experience. Part of Turtle Inn, the creation of director turned hotelier Francis Ford Coppola, Coral Caye benefits from the hotel's excursion menu whilst offering seclusion and exclusivity. Adapt to a slower pace of life as you relax in a hammock and enjoy the sound of the waves and exotic birds, disconnecting from reality.
Attentive caretakers, a chef and a butler are the only other company you will have at Coral Caye as they look after everything from meal preparation to pouring drinks and even chopping up fresh coconuts to tuck into or sip a cocktail from. Enjoy fresh seafood and Creole style BBQs, an abundance of fresh tropical fruit and refreshing salads without lifting a finger. Additional services and experiences can be arranged to enhance your stay, including al-fresco massages, guided fishing tours, pre-ordered groceries, champagne or cake to celebrate any special occasions, diving trips and private chefs for a more elaborate dining experience. Camping on the island can be arranged for more adventurous travelers or to help accommodate larger groups.
There are two separate cottages on the island which can accommodate up to 10 guests, each rustic in design yet luxurious, with beach decor, wooden detailing and fresh bright colors to accent these cosy dwellings. The Great House, the only other building on the island, provides an indoor/outdoor living area with a full bar, music, bathroom, kitchen, dining area, board games and a dart board and is the perfect entertainment space, with a sandy floor to emphasise the relaxed barefoot vibe.
We recommend combining a two or three night stay at Coral Caye with a couple of nights at Turtle Inn to experience the best of Placencia and this beautiful Belizean paradise.
There are two separate cottages on Coral Caye which accommodate up to a maximum of 10 guests. Coral Cottage is the most recent addition and is ideal for a couple of family with younger children. It includes a king bedroom and a sleeper sofa in the living room, a full bathroom with both indoor and outdoor shower and a front porch with its own hammocks.
Seahorse Cottage is situated away from Coral Cottage amongst the mangroves where there are a number of small coral sand beaches. It features two queen beds, an additional room with twin bed and a bathroom with cold water shower (very refreshing in the Caribbean heat). Decor is elegant yet rustic, with plenty of wood and beach-style furnishings. All buildings have ceiling fans as opposed to air conditioning and there is no TV to encourage enjoying the island life.
Although the real focus here is on relaxation, a number of additional excursions can be arranged so you can relax as much or as little as you please. Activities available include diving on the Caribbean's largest barrier reef, diving with whale sharks (season runs April-June), snorkeling with an abundance of marine life, fishing, swimming, yoga, sunset cruises, paddleboarding, ziplining and visits to Placencia village.
