Nanxun Water Town
Nanxun, Shanghai and Eastern China, China
Make a trip to Nanxun. Walking along the canals of the old town, one will not see enormous herds of tourists, but instead, locals washing clothes, sipping tea or playing cards beside the water.
Today, we drive to Nanxun Ancient Town (approximately 1.5 hours from Hangzhou). In contrast to other water towns near Shanghai, Nanxun does not enjoy the same level of fame and it is for this same reason that this picturesque ancient village has remained in its original and tranquil ambience with canals, bridges, ancient buildings and narrow lanes. Unlike other water towns, a unique feature about Nanxun is that the buildings here represent a great combination of traditional Chinese and 18th century European architectures.
