This converted 19th century manor house lies on a very picturesque bend in the beautiful Douro Valley, nestled amongst vineyards and overlooking the river, in the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Douro region is rich in culture, tradition and gastronomy, and famous for its wine and port making.
Six Senses Douro Valley has 50 contemporary rooms and suites, decorated in soothing tones and with luxurious amenities, many offering panoramic views of the surrounding vineyards, the river and 8 hectares of lush green gardens. Seven additional accommodation options, including two villas and five apartments ranging from one to three bedrooms also lie on the property and are perfect for families. These are decorated in a more traditional style using rustic stone and rich fabrics.
From the hotel you can explore this fascinating local area with its vineyards and villages - some of which are home to monasteries from the 12th century - take a boat trip on the Douro, fly by helicopter over the landscape, try local Portuguese cuisine (including incredible vegetarian options) and taste the fantastic regional wines. Whilst at Six Senses Douro Valley, guests can relax by the outdoor pool, walk in the lush green gardens or be pampered in the beautifully designed spa with natural, organic products. Everything about the hotel and the setting nourishes body and soul.
There are 50 rooms and suites with many panoramic windows offering spectacular views of the river or surrounding countryside. All rooms and suites have luxurious bathrooms, some with spacious showers and some with bathtubs and are all well equipped with mini-bar, air conditioning, telephone, LCD TV and WiFi. There are also five apartments, which all share a pool, and two semi-detached villas each with a private pool.
|Quinta Superior Room||
These rooms measure between 40-46 sqm and are cosy with modern decor, some offering a private terrace. King, Queen or twin beds are available as well as a baby cot. Connecting rooms are also available in this room type.
These woodland view rooms are spacious and bright, and have a separate reading area to the bedroom. Some rooms also have a private terrace to enjoy.

The Quinta River Rooms are decorated with contemporary style with views over looking the Douro River. These rooms measure 46 - 50 sqm and boast panoramic views of the area from the private lounge. Some of these rooms have a private terrace also.
The Quinta Suites of 58 sqm offer a variety of layouts and experiences - one has a private balcony and another has a panoramic river view. Each suite has a living area and feels bright and spacious.

The Quinta Duplex Suites of 80 sqm has a comfortable living room and king size bedroom. Additional beds can be provided to make this a perfect family choice.
|Quinta Panorama Suite||
The Panorama Suite offers beautiful views of the Douro River and the valley below. These spacious rooms have a separate living area to the bedroom and have a day bed that can accommodate a child measuring up to 1.5m in height.

The Quinta Courtyard Suites range in size from 84 to 115 sqm. There is a separate dining room and living area to the bedroom and bathroom with large bathtub as well as shower. Enjoy views of the Douro River from your private balcony.

These two apartments of 120sqm have access to a shared pool and garden, with total room privacy.

These 200sqm apartments have two bedrooms, located in the vineyards and have access to a shared pool and garden area with four other villas.
These two-bed apartments are available with either one bathroom, or two.

This large 220sqm apartment boasts 3 bedrooms, a private terrace and garden as well as two bathrooms. There is also access to a shared pool with four other villas.

These large one-bed villas of 288 to 306 sqm boast their own private pool and terrace giving guests total privacy. The decor is contemporary and comfortable, ideal for romantic getaways.
Families with children 6 years old and over are very welcome to come and stay at Six Senses Douro Valley. There is a variety of activities designed to keep children entertained such as treasure hunts, family kayaking, art and nature workshops, a kids alchemy bar and family yoga.
The Douro Valley is the oldest demarcated wine region in the world and therefore the wine list in the restaurants is quite exceptional. Vale de Abraão is casual, stylish and contemporary serving Mediterranean fusion cuisine on a beautiful terrace overlooking the vineyards. The Dining Room provides fresh, regional dishes with a relaxed atmosphere, while Terroir offers vegetarian fare, making the most of the hotel's organic garden. The Quinta Bar and Lounge boasts magnificent views of the sunset over the Douro River and is the perfect place to relax with tapas and a glass of wine.
The hotel has a fantastic gym and a spa with therapeutic and holistic therapies available. Taking a boat trip along the banks of the Douro on a beautiful sailing boat or on a luxurious vintage boat with private lunch will reveal the magnificence of the landscape. Train trips along the river, helicopter trips through the region and bicycle rental are a great way to explore the region. Horse riding, hiking, canoeing, rafting and golf are also facilitated in the area.

The Six Senses Douro Valley hotel is located in Lamego, on the south bank of the Douro River, Portugal.
When to go
Porto and the Douro Valley can be visited year-round, however the best times to travel are spring, early summer and autumn. During these times the weather is pleasant, however in July and August temperatures can reach up to 45°C. In the winter, temperatures drop and it can be rainy, particularly in November, December and January.
