Originally a private residence, the building housing Hotel Marignan became a hotel in 1925, and owner Nathalie Richard joined forces with Parisian interior designer Pierre Yovanovitch to redesign the hotel in 2010. Hotel Marignan's clever design leaves it feeling more like a private home than a hotel - you won't see much branding around. Hotel Marignan is full of interesting works of art selected by Madame Richard herself, with many pieces coming from her own private collection.
With just 45 rooms and 5 suites, Hotel Marignan is a boutique hotel with a cosy atmosphere. Rooms are modern with a contemporary design throughout, with sleek wooden furnishings and subdued colors. The Suite Marignan Eiffel on the 6th floor and the Suite Terrace Eiffel on the 7th floor both boast a magnificent view of the iconic Eiffel Tower and a large terrace where you can enjoy a meal looking out over the City of Lights. There is also a private screening room that seats up to 40 people available for private hire where you can enjoy DVDs or sporting events complete with refreshments and delicious nibbles from the comfort of the cosy sofas.
Recently opened hotel Nubé has already garnered a fantastic reputation thanks to the avant-garde creations from Colombian head chef Juan Arbelaez. With tastes from around the world, this is an unimposing setting to enjoy a quirky and innovative meal. The Simone Veille bar is trendy yet cosy, and a popular choice due to its hosting of fashion shows and art exhibitions.
The elegant facade of the hotel comprises a contemporary lower section of black Zimbabwe stone and white Art Deco upper section. The main stairwell is original and has an ornate painted ceiling that includes 52 quotes - so perhaps an opportunity to see how much French you can remember from your school days!
Each of the 45 rooms and 5 suites feels more like a Parisian apartment than a typical hotel room. Many rooms benefit from the original high ceilings and are decorated in a luxurious and contemporary style with specially selected works of art on the walls. Interconnecting and duplex rooms are available. The beds are wonderfully comfortable and made from hypoallergenic bamboo fibre. Guest rooms are kitted out with flat screen TV and iPod dock and there's free WiFi throughout the hotel. Bathrooms are stocked with Guerlain toiletries.

When to go
The best time to visit Paris is, of course, during the famous Paris spring between April and June, when the days are sunny but not too hot. The autumn and winter months are another good time to come when there are smaller crowds and snow is a rarity. But there really is no bad time to visit.
