Best time to Visit
Good time to visit

Val d'Isère boasts one of the longest ski seasons in the world because, unlike other resorts above 1800m, 80% of the skiing happens above 2000 metres. As a result, early and late season offer reliable great conditions. Being high, it is cold though and we think March and April are the best times to visit Val.

Scott Dunn pioneered skiing holidays with childcare, allowing parents the freedom to ski whilst their children are cared for impeccably by our nannies. Our handpicked childcare team are qualified professionals, whose enthusiasm and nurturing abilities are in abundance, so much so that both parents and children often ask to take them home. In Val d’Isère we have our exclusive Explorers kids club , which gives our hotel guests the freedom to ski all day, whilst your children have a holiday too. We look after children from as young as four months, with age appropriate activities and a collection service to and from ski school. A nutritious lunch is served each day, as well as healthy snacks, with any dietary requirements taken into account and your child’s routine will be strictly adhered to. We can also provide a wide range of equipment for babies and toddlers on request, including nappies and wipes, usually free of charge. And if you’d like to go out in the evening, we can provide babysitting.
Explorers kids club | Run by qualified nannies, our purpose built kids club in Val d’Isere is available exclusively to Scott Dunn guests and is open seven days a week. Each day promises an imaginative and entertaining programme of both indoor and outdoor activities, so parents can spend the day on the slopes knowing your children are in expert hands. Snacks and lunches are freshly made each day and we also operate a driver service that can take your children to and from ski school. |
Babysitting | Babysitting can be arranged in the evenings and is chargeable by the hour (€20 for the first hour, then €10 per hour until midnight, and €20 per hour thereafter). |

Activities
Val d’Isère is a mecca for downhill skiing for good reason. It has enough to keep skiers of all standards challenged and entertained for a lifetime, let alone a week. The off piste potential is limitless and the snow record enviable.
Val d'Isère has plenty to offer less enthusiastic skiers too. The Centre Aquasportif has fantastic facilities including 2 swimming pools, climbing wall, multi activity sports hall, fitness suite, gym, squash courts and a Wellness area with sauna, steam bath, spa, cold baths and hydro-massage.
Designated walking trails are a great way of appreciating the scenery and there is an ice rink, husky riding, parapenting, skidooing, cross country skiing and much more.
There is a wealth of quality restaurants in the village and on the mountain (many of which are accessible to non skiers). The shops and galleries offer some great shopping (both the window and the real varieties).
Reviews
Cammie Burke (Staff)
A true five star experience in the perfect location in Val disere.
The hotel is positioned at the bottom of the Face run but is also a short walk from the bubble to start skiing. It is in the perfect location to walk to shops/restaurants in town.
The decor is traditional in style and also has a current contemporary feel. The bar is the perfect place to relax after a day of skiing. The bar is spacious and is separated into cosy private areas for your group.
Ski hire is extremely efficient and easy, located directly at the hotel. You also have your own private ski locker, it couldnt be easier to hit the slopes.
A stop at the spa is a must for your stay at Les Barmes de L'ursequo. The spa is comprised of an indoor pool, jacuzzi, excellent large steam room and sauna. There are endless treatments to choose from including massages and facials.
There is a mix of causal and formal dining options at the hotel. The rotisserie has a relaxed environment with casual delicious cuisine in a chalet like setting. La table de la Ours is a one star Michelin restaurant offering a tasting menu and a la carte options. If you would like to try local specialities you can do this at La coin de Savoyard.
All in all, the prime location, incredible helpful staff and amenities will make you feel right at home in a skiiers paradise.

Hotel Barmes de lOurs is the ultimate Alpine luxury in Val dIsere. This hotel doesnt just tick the boxes, but offers further facilities and amenities that you couldnt even think of! They offer live concerts in their bar for aprs ski, have two bowling alleys, an exciting play room, a quirky pool room, F1 race training equipment in the gym, a dedicated cheese room in the restaurant the possibilities are endless.
They havent done things by halves; the spa is the largest in resort and their ski shop is the largest in Europe so everything is maximised to give you the best stay ever! Each floor has a different theme, so you can visit year after year and not get bored!

Barme de L'Ours simply is one of the best hotels in Val d'Isere and they just get everything so spot on. With a great choice of room selections for couples and families of all sizes. The Spa facilities here are some of the best I have seen in Val d'Isere - and even the children are welcome. The most stand out for me is the service which I could find no fault with, the whole Barme de l'Ours team knew at all times who we were and anticipated our every wish. The pro ski shop has a fantastic selection of equipment and are happy to give you a few insider tips for where to ski each day.
