Accessible only by boat, Rayavadee is a beautiful luxury resort located amongst the beauty of Krabi’s National Marine Park. It is renowned for its glorious beaches, intricately designed two-storey pavilion rooms and of course the limestone rock landscape.
Located on the breathtaking Phra Nang headland and surrounded by three beautiful beaches and spectacular limestone cliffs, the Rayavadee almost resembles a village. It is set in 26 acres of coconut groves overlooking the Andaman Sea and surrounded by dramatic limestone karst cliffs and islands with the pavilions dotted around the grounds.
Rayavadee has 98 uniquely designed circular pavilions with one or two bedrooms plus spacious living areas and four beachfront villas with either garden or mountain views. All are luxuriously appointed and furnished in an elegant Thai style with polished woods, richly colored fabrics and hand crafted details. Bedroom and bathroom are located on the upper floor whilst the living area is on the ground floor. Each pavilion has its own little garden, some of which have small pools.
Rayavadee has four restaurants with different menu styles, offering international dishes and Thai specialties, there are also other bars and restaurants just a short stroll down the beach. The Grotto is the most well known with its setting half in a cave with views out to sea. The spa offers an extensive range of treatments, massages and therapies to take into a world of peace and relaxation. The main infinity pool is also a scenic place to while away some time taking in tropical vistas which surround you, and provides a relaxing escape from the beach which can get quite busy with day trippers.
Rayavadee provides a range of non-motorized water sports in its surrounding crystal clear waters in addition to rock climbing, exploring uninhabited islands in the marine reserve and treks in the lush forested interior. The rich marine life and variety of tropical fish provides some great diving and snorkeling opportunities. There are several attractions nearby for you to venture out to explore. The lovely island of Phi Phi is just a 35-minute speed boat ride away as are Poda, Chicken, Tub and Hong Islands which have some fantastic beaches and fascinating rock formations.
Just a forewarning, the departure pier from the mainland is not the most scenic and nor is the arrival beach but don't be disheartened because as soon as you are welcomed into the resort and see the other beaches and the dramatic scenery you will soon forget about it! Also the beach can get busy during the day with day trippers, the best way to avoid this is to head on day trips yourself or go to the beach early or late and spend some time by the quieter area of the pool during busy beach times.
All of Rayavadee's 98 Pavilions have a spacious living room downstairs and a bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Some have an additional bedroom downstairs, perfect for families and Hydro Pool Pavilions have a private garden with hydro pool and barbecue terrace. Spa Pavilions have a private garden with gazebo and outdoor Jacuzzi. The Raitalay two-bedroom villa has a kitchen, living and dining room and hydro pool, and the resort's other two and three bedroom villas all have swimming pools and a butler service.
Each two-storey Deluxe Pavilion is stylishly decorated with polished wood and rich colored fabrics.
Terrace Pavilions are contemporarily designed and feature an open and airy ground floor living area with glass doors opening out onto a furnished terrace.
Spa Pavilions have the added addition of an exotic garden with an outdoor Jacuzzi, shower, sun loungers and a gazebo.
|Hydro Pool Pavilion||
The Hydro Pool Pavilion has a 4.5 x 2.5 meter freshwater hydro-pool located in an enclosed tropical garden with a terrace. Great for those who enjoy indoor-outdoor living.
The Family Pavilion has an additional ground floor bedroom with two queen size beds and an en-suite bathroom. There is an outdoor dining area and a terrace for private barbecues.
|Family Pavilion with Hydro Pool||
These Pavilions offer the same amenities as the Family Pavilion but with the addition of a hydro pool located in an enclosed garden.
Children from 4-12 can enjoy the Rayavadee's 'Just for Kids' program which includes tennis lessons, cooking, arts and crafts and discovery walks, all on a complimentary basis. Children under 4 are welcome to join in with a parent. Children's meals and babysitting are also available.
Rayavadee's four restaurants offer an excellent variety of cuisines and locations including the Grotto which is nestled under an ancient limestone cliff where you can enjoy a lazy lunch or a magical sunset cocktail. Raya dining is the fine dining restaurant which a strong marine influence in both its décor and menu. Krua Phranang is the place to head to for some classic Thai dishes and a sea view. And finally Raitalay Terrace served international favorites at its poolside location.
The luxury Rayavadee Spa has an extensive range of therapies and there is also a swimming pool, extensive holistic spa, tennis court, squash court and table tennis.

Located between three famous beaches but set in quiet jungle, you'll be surrounded by wildlife which you can try and spot as you walk between the hotel facilities. If you like to be close to the action with lots of activities, staying at Rayavadee is a must. A paradise designed with exquisite detail and four restaurants serving delicious Thai and Western dishes.

The setting of Rayavadee is what truly makes this property so special. Located on a peninsula with three beaches to choose from around the resort you are really spoiled for choice. On the main Phranang Beach you are surrounded by limestone pillars and the numerous surrounding islands in the distance such as Koh Pi Pi. We had dinner at Krua Phranang to the sound of crashing waves while we were treated to a delicious array of Thai dishes in their tasting menu.

I thought there was something really special and unique about Rayavadee. Set amongst three beaches you will find this little village-like resort of single unit pavilions dotted around. They resemble rounded huts and are set amongst lush greenery, little creeks and tropical flowers. But look up and you will see that you are in the valley of some of the most breathtaking scenery of large rocks. Head to the beach and out at sea, you will be mesmerized by the limestone formations, the scenery really is staggering. My favorite moment was enjoying one of their fizzy cocktails looking out to sea and watching the sun go down. There are a couple of points to note though, the departure jetty and the beach at the arrival jetty for that matter are not the most sightly but keep the faith. Another issue is that in high season the beach (it is public) could get crowded with backpackers and day trippers but they do have a good pool area which is for guests use only - just something to be aware of.

The Rayavadee is a great place to go if you are looking for lots of activities and there is so much on offer. You can do rock climbing and abseiling on the amazing rock formations at the hotel, mountain trekking to the viewpoint, canoeing, snorkeling, sailing, windsurfing, dinghy sailing and fishing. Diving and snorkeling is also excellent here and you can visit other small islands such as James Bond island and Phi Phi by boat.
