With just 30 rooms, The New Majestic is one of Singapore's smallest hotels that's nestled within the colorful and captivating streets of Chinatown. To the west of the CBD, Chinatown is arguably one of the most atmospheric corners of the city with fascinating shops, old shuttered windows, bars and cafes all within walking distance from the hotel. It's also just a short taxi ride away from the CBD and Orchard Road, the city's main shopping district.
The New Majestic is very much design led; think eccentric art work and idiosyncratic features such as designer chairs, Crompton ceiling fans and cinematic spotlights. It's quirky in a good way and doesn't compromise on comfort with crisp sheets and modern bathrooms. However, it's not designed for those who prefer more traditional hotels.
All 30 rooms are completely unique; choose from Premier Pool, Junior Lifestyle, Premier Garden, Aqua, Lifestyle and Attic Suites. Despite the categories, each room certainly has its own style; some are laced in sumptuous fabrics and burgundy silks such as 'Wayang', while others are chic, white and minimalist such as 'Fluid'. 'Work' is clad in wood and feels boxy but calm, cool and comfortable. A few of the rooms also have outdoor bathrooms or even two bathtubs within the room itself. Needless to say, this isn't a hotel for conservative travelers.
Dining options include a Cantonese restaurant featuring cuisine by internationally renowned chef Yong Bing Ngen. There's also a small swimming pool.
We feel this is a fantastic and fun option in a brilliant location and one that is geared more towards couples than families. It's ideal for those who prefer boutique hotels to large international chains.
There are six different room categories; Premier Pool, Junior Lifestyle, Premier Garden, Aqua, Lifestyle and Attic Suites. Each room however is completely unique.
There are no specific child care facilities and therefore we'd recommend this hotel for couples rather than families.
There's a small pool and a great Cantonese restaurant.

When to go
Any time’s a good time to go to Singapore. Practically on the equator, Singapore is constantly warm (the temperature never drops below 20°C) and humid and gets fairly steady year-round rainfall. The wettest months are supposedly November to January, when it’s also a degree or two cooler, while the driest are supposedly May to July, but in reality there is little distinction between the seasons.
