The Fasano Group, who are already famous for their hotels in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, chose this beautiful location as their first resort outside of their native Brazil due to its mix of picturesque countryside and the effortlessly cool Uruguayan beach scene.
The Fasano has a fantastic restaurant with views out towards the verdant pastureland, grassy dunes and pine forests, and an indoor and outdoor state-of-the-art swimming pool that is built into the rocks. The well appointed spa is minimal in design but has excellent facilities and treatments.

When to go
November to March is the ideal time to visit weather wise. The very popular peak summer season from Christmas to mid-February gets booked up well in advance so best to plan early. During this period the whole place comes alive and there is a great party atmosphere. It is worth bearing in mind however that during the quieter season - including November, many of the area's bars and restaurants are closed which does tend to restrict eating options to your hotel.
