November to March is the ideal time to stay at Posada del Faro weatherwise. The very popular peak summer season from Christmas to mid-February gets booked up well in advance so best to plan early. During this period the whole place comes alive and there is a great party atmosphere. It is worth bearing in mind however that during the quieter season - including November, many of the area's bars and restaurants are closed which does tend to restrict eating options to your hotel.
To start planning your holiday to Posada del Faro
Posada del Faro is a Mediterranean-style boutique hotel overlooking the beach in the fashionable Uruguayan village of Jose Ignacio. Posada del Faro is an intimate retreat away from, but within easy reach of Punta del Este's buzzing scene.
Posada del Faro, a delightful beachfront property located next to the lighthouse in chic Jose Ignacio, is the perfect base for relaxing and exploring the local gourmet restaurants and wild Atlantic shores north of Punta del Este.
13 crisp and cleanly designed rooms with whitewashed walls, elegant throws and brick fireplaces provide comfort and a seaside feeling. All rooms have magnificent outlooks of either the pool or the beach.
In season (December-February), the area becomes one of South America's gastronomic capitals, with many of the continent's top chefs descending to take charge in the 20 or so restaurants. For the rest of the year Jose Ignacio is the perfect place to learn to surf or kite surf, take long beach strolls, bird watch in the nearby lagoons, whale watch or to play golf in Punta del Este.
Posada del Faro has 13 rooms set over two levels in the main building and a further two suites in a separate building. These are individually decorated in a simple, fresh style with white furnishings blended with a few rustic touches. The rooms have private decks or balconies overlooking the beach. Both the suites have a sitting room, fireplace and terrace.
Children under 16 years old are not accepted at Posada del Faro in season, but children over the age of 8 may stay by prior arrangement in the low season (April to October). Babies under 12 months are welcomed and cots and babysitting can be arranged on request.
Facilities at Posada del Faro include a living room with books, magazines and an honor bar, a terrace with a pool and loungers (the pool is not heated) and a dining area. Breakfast and snacks are available during the day and in the quiet season when most of the local restaurants are closed. Dinner can be served by prior arrangement.
During their stay, guests at Posada del Faro can enjoy horse riding, tennis, surfing, windsurfing and kayaking. It is also possible to take a bike to explore the village, with its upscale boutiques and trendy galleries or to arrange fishing, birdwatching and whale watching (March-October) in Jose Ignacio's vast expanses of lagoons.
A captivating 12-mile drive north of Punta del Este, the seaside village of Jose Ignacio has quietly become the true jetset-destination of South America. Instead of well-secured beachside fortresses, the village is dotted with charming bungalows atop wooden stilts on rolling sand dunes still untouched by mass-tourism. Old-world fishermen live side-by-side with runaway celebrities seeking-out the town's solitary beaches and laidback lifestyle. Even with the nearby Playa Vik and Upcoming Setai Jose Ignacio, in-the-know travelers descend of this stylish beach hotel with 12-rooms and an airy-white atmosphere that seduces summer party-hoppers and well-read travelers. Located on a sandy bluff above one of the main beaches in town, the hotel features hacienda-style architecture surrounding a tranquil pool area with waterside bar and wooden cabanas with aged lounge furniture. A small restaurant with scarlet-red walls offers communal dining and summer barbecues that are a local tradition.
