Though just a short drive from the glamorous nightlife of Punta del Este, Jose Ignacio is an altogether sleepier, more laidback affair, with powder-soft sands and an eclectic coastline dotted with stylish mansions and fishing villages. While the glamour and glitz are more low-key than in Punta del Este, the town remains an exclusive, upmarket escape.
