Description
A recent addition to Deer Valley, and with an enviable position on top of Empire Pass, Montage is one of the resort’s best lodges. Ski in/ski out, and adjacent to three high speed chair lifts, it has instant access to some of North America’s finest skiing, and is only a short drive away from the main attractions of Park City. The Montage Deer Valley is a high end hotel, with an impressive range of leisure facilities and five restaurants, making it ideal for families. It’s easy to be overwhelmed by its size on arrival, but the welcome you receive, and the exceptionally helpful and friendly concierge services on hand, ensure you have a thoroughly enjoyable and fun stay. The rooms and suites are all beautifully decorated, and we especially like the Vista Lounge – the grandest part of the entire hotel. Live music is played here each day, and during Sundance, you’ll find all sorts of different events taking place there.
Regionally sourced, the food at Montage is truly American and really good - try the Kobe beef, it’s incredible, or if puddings are more your thing, the Granny Smith lasagne. There’s also an impressive range of wines from the Napa Valley, as well as bourbons. Everything you need is on hand at the resort, from a ski rental shop, to ski valet services who can not only advise on where to ski each day, but organize passes and lessons and other recreational activities including snowmobiling, sleigh rides and a go on the bobsled course. The hotel has the largest Spa in the area, with an indoor lap pool and an enormous outdoor heated pool. Children love the bowling alley after a day on the slopes, whilst the pub plays every imaginable sport on screens and has games consoles for children. The hotel also has a small tubing area out front and a great outside terrace which is warmed with fire pits each night. For families, Montage have a special program for children from five to 12 years which involves a huge range of both indoor and outdoor activities from crafts to snowshoeing and regularly hosts movies.
With an annual average of 7.5 meters of snow, Deer Valley is one of North America’s best ski areas, covering six mountains. The resort has dedicated itself to guest services, limiting the amount of people on the slopes, and only allowing skiers. You’ll find uniformed ski valets, groomed-to-perfection slopes, great restaurants, all within close proximity to Salt Lake City. Located in Park City in Utah's Rocky Mountain Wasatch Range, it has a 3000 foot vertical drop and over 2000 acres of skiable terrain. The resorts of Canyons and Park City are just minutes away and accessible by shuttle although you will need a separate ski pass. There are ski trails for all abilities but beginners to intermediates will feel at home at Deer Valley with immaculately groomed pistes amongst the trees. Expert skiers can head for the mogul runs used for the 2002 Salt Lake Olympic Winter Games.
The vibrant center of Park City is just 10-15 minutes away, with over 120 restaurants and bars. The popular Main Street also has plenty of shops and galleries, and an old Egyptian theater which always has a show.

When to go
The ski season in the United States is longer than that in Europe. Most resorts open sometime in November, with Thanksgiving (the fourth Thursday in that month) being a common opening time, and stay open until mid to late April. The exceptionally high altitude means December through to February can be extremely cold, with temperatures sometimes reaching as low as -12C, although the skiing conditions remain very good. Warmer temperatures in the Spring mean more variable skiing conditions and softer, forgiving snow.
