Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

Sedona is situated in the heart of Arizona. During the summer months it can be extremely hot with temperatures soaring to over 40 degrees, however, the heat is dry so more bearable. Winters are mild and pleasant although can be quite cold at night due to the elevation of the area. The best time to visit is Spring or Fall. Hiking is best during this time as the flowers bloom and the weather is warm but not scorching.

Description

Situated in Uptown Sedona, the Amara has a boutique and individual feel with a quirky design. One off art and lighting installations, bright and comfortable furnishings and customized decorations only add to this hotel's unique style.

The Amara prides itself as an outdoor-loving extrovert’s paradise. Situated just moments away from the red rock landscape Arizona is so famous for, those with an adventurous streak will love retreating to the hotel. The hotel is a self-confessed social hub where guests are encouraged to participate in morning tea and coffee hours as well as complimentary yoga classes and evening wine sessions to catch up on the days spent admiring the breath-taking rock formations. Situated at an elevation of 4,500 feet, the resort benefits from a unique Creekside location combining the best of forest and canyon scenery.

The resort is family-friendly with a number of amenities to keep all ages occupied. Over-sized garden games can be found scattered across the hotel grounds and dogs are often found complete with neckerchiefs sitting watching the sunrise whilst their owners enjoy a morning coffee. The central hub of Amara orientates around the glittering infinity pool and bubbling hot tub. Heated year-round, guests can retreat to the poolside after a morning hike or visit the on-site spa which offers head-to-toe pampering. The Rain Dance massage featuring lavender, rosemary and sage oils is a particular favorite. The restaurant offers delicious American cuisine with a south-western flair and there are also light bar snacks available all day; the beer cheese is a local delicacy and a must-try. Those wishing to head out and explore the surrounding landscape can opt for private off-road adventure tours of Red Rock country.

Outside of the resort there are an abundance of activities to choose from. The surrounding area is packed full of world renowned hiking trails which are easily accessible, aswell as local art galleries and expansive golf courses. The tours visit a 700-year-old Native American cliff dwelling and take on ‘the road of no return', an unforgettable excursion you and your family will not forget.

I would recommend staying in the Creekside guest room which comes complete with a furnished outdoor patio which was perfect for unwinding after a busy day of exploring. The views over Oak Creek are stunning and the separate shower and jacuzzi bath are great for refreshing after walking through dusty canyons. The surrounding tree line gives the appearance that you are situated in a mountain canopy with a peripheral view of the crimson rock scenery and a few moments sitting out on the patio to admire this view was quite breath-taking. I visited in November and although late in the year, the weather was exceptional and the fall foliage exquisite, Id suggest visiting in the shoulder seasons while the weather is warm but comfortable, and hiking opportunities are aplenty.
