Aspen Snowmass has an extreme continental climate with very cold winters and warm summers. Activities are very seasonal. Spring, from late April to June, is marked by mild days and cold nights, with some rain and occasional snow. Summers offer warm days and cool nights and a profusion of brightly colored wildflowers. Expect blue sky days with occasional short afternoon showers. Outdoor adventure and an abundance of art, culture and music events, many of which are free, attract visitors to Aspen in the summer. The first big event of the year being the Food and Wine Classic scheduled towards end of June, with events running through September.
In autumn, the aspen and cottonwood run gold and red displaying a spectacular fall show. The days are sunny, with cold nights. Rain eventually gives way to snow. Winter brings with it enough deep snow to keep a skier happy well into April.

Located close to the main gondola for easy access onto the mountain for the biking trails, and only seven miles from Aspen, the Viceroy has a superb location. The Viceroy is by far the best option available to guests in Snowmass. I love its chic style and modern design and, even from my brief stay here, I felt its comfortable residences truly offer a real home-from-home experience in the Rockies.
You can't fault the facilities here either; The excellent children's program runs throughout the summer, the spa is huge and offers a wide range of relaxing wellness treatments, and the gym is very impressive too, although it would surprise me if it gets much use in the summer months with so much adventure to be had outdoors!
Western Wednesday at Snowmass Village
Grab your cowboy hat and enjoy a wild, adrenaline rush with a day at the rodeo. The Wednesday night Rodeo at Snowmass Village is enormous fun and a great way to meet the locals. Don't miss the delicious cowboy bbq dinner & saloon bar.
