The Ranch at Emerald Valley is located just a short 30 minute transfer from the iconic Broadmoor property. The route winds its way up the mountain offering fantastic views, make sure to keep your eyes peeled for wildlife. As we drew up to the Ranch I felt instantly relaxed, the property is located in the most peaceful and tranquil surroundings, tucked away in the forest. The cabins are wonderfully cosy and luxurious, I particularly enjoyed curling up by my fire on my rocking chair after a busy day. There are just ten cabins so the Ranch has a lovely intimate feel and you are very well looked after by the attentive staff. All meals and activities are included during your stay, the food was delicious and you can choose from several activities such as fishing, biking, hiking or horse riding or just relax in the outdoor hot tub overlooking the lake or on the decking of the main lodge with a book. The Ranch at Emerald Valley would suit couples or families looking for a wilderness retreat, rather than a horse riding focussed ranch experience and a three night stay would be ideal.

Although more of a 'soft ranch' experience, I absolutely loved my stay at Emerald Valley. After checking in at The Broadmoor and being transferred up the mountain (30 minute drive), Colorado Springs and the big hotel seems worlds away! The delightful cabins in the woods are a real mountain retreat, surrounded by 100,000 acres of Pike National Forest.
One thing's for sure, you absolutely won't go hungry here! Fresh peach filled donuts and other freshly baked goodies are laid out every afternoon - The perfect, cosy pick-me-up after a day out and about riding, hiking, biking or fly fishing. The twice weekly barbecues are great fun, and a chance to mix with other guests at the ranch, whilst enjoying delights such as lobster tails, steak and the freshest vegetables. The extremely talented chefs can cater for any dietary requirements, and will even prepare a dish from your fresh catch of the day!
All ranch activities are included in your stay, and guests can take part in guided hikes and horse riding, as well as archery and fly fishing instruction, making it a great place to learn, try new activities or simply enjoy at your leisure.
