Summer is undoubtedly the best period to visit Portland and Maine's south and mid coast. Precipitation is moderate all over the year, but the weather becomes harsh and snowy during winter and late autumn. Portland and the south coast of Maine is often struck by cold spells and severe snowfalls from November to mid-Spring.
Overlooking Goose Rocks Beach and the ocean beyond, The Tides Beach Club is a chic mansion built in traditional New England style. Fresh farm produce, a great in-house mixologist and a fantastic beachfront location make this a must-visit when in Maine.
Sip evening cocktails on the terrace at the Tides Beach Club and soak in the relaxed vibe as the sun sets over Goose Rocks Beach. This chic converted mansion has a lively atmosphere and a nightly happy hour gives the social areas a friendly buzz on this otherwise peaceful stretch of New England coastline.
The Tides Beach Club is a charming boutique property, built in the traditional New England style with cosy interiors and the all-important deckchairs overlooking the ocean. Just steps from the beach it is ideally placed for enjoying a gentle stroll along the sand or taking to the waters on a chartered fishing trip. The area is quiet, around a 15-minute drive from Dock Square where you can find boutique shops, art galleries and access to fantastic golfing - although children are welcome we would suggest that this is better suited to couples as the focus is more on relaxation.
There are 21 rooms and suites at The Tides, some of which enjoy stunning ocean views, the suites boasting their own private balconies. Decor is fresh and unfussy, reflecting the hotel's beautiful natural surroundings with crisp and cool pastel tones. As well as tucking into delicious seafood at The Beach Club's own restaurant, gusts can make the most of facilities at The Tides' sister property, Hidden Pond, including the restaurant, spa and both of the hotel's pools.
