Benguerra Island lies amid the azure waters of the Indian Ocean within the Bazaruto Archipelago off the coast of southern Mozambique. Marlin Lodge is on the southern coast of Benguerua Island and has just 17 simply furnished rooms that reflect luxury and essential comfort, overlooking a totally unspoiled beach. Attention to detail, soft, inviting furnishings and colors that enhance the lush island greenery and sparkling blue ocean, complete the picture. Guests can enjoy spacious accommodation, delectable food, rejuvenating wellness treatments and exhilarating explorations on land or under water.
Activities include fishing, scuba diving, sailing, picnics and dhow sunset cruises. Guests can indulge in the delicious cuisine, enjoy the various activities, or simply lie on the stunning stretch of beach or by the pool. The warm topical waters surrounding the Bazaruto Archipelago are home to some of nature's finest marine life. A spectacular variety of fish, coral, marine mammals and plants wait to be explored by divers and snorkellers. Bazaruto Archipelago is also famed as one of the greatest game fishing sites in the Indian Ocean. Species such as sailfish, blue and black marlin and king fish can be found roaming in the deep.
The local way of travel for any Mozambican is done via the colorful dhow, a traditional handmade craft used for fishing and island travel. Marlin Lodge supports the local island people by hiring these dhows and their experienced crew, thereby introducing their culture to guests and providing a livelihood to locals. Dhow sunset cruises around Flamingo Bay in front of Marlin Lodge are extremely popular among guests.
Luxury accommodation is provided for a maximum of 34 guests in three executive beach suites and 14 luxury beach suites. All the rooms are spacious with plenty of private space and decking for relaxing and each on has a four poster bed, en-suite bathroom, ceiling fan and air conditioning. Each of the suites is on the beach with delightful views over the ocean and has private and direct access to the beach.

Children of all ages are welcomed at Marlin Lodge and there is plenty of activities for them to enjoy. There are cots available for babies and the daybeds can accommodate up to two children who are under the age of 7.
Marlin Lodge has a stunning 11-meter swimming pool to cool off in during the heat of the day, there is also a reading lounge with a small library and board games plus a well stocked curio shop. The open-air dining room and cocktail lounge offers uninterrupted sea views. There is a small business center where guests can make use of laptop and complimentary internet facilities. In addition, Marlin Lodge offers a small, intimate wellness center with an internationally qualified therapist.
Marlin Lodge has a range of activities on offer there is an on-site diving center with all the necessary equipment, led by a resident PADI qualified diving instructor, diving sites and depths are varied to cater for all levels of diving experience.
Marlin Lodge boasts the best fleet of fully equipped fishing boats in the Bazaruto Archipelago, as well as an outstanding tackle center. Dhow sailing in traditional dhows and island tours are also on offer. The island of Benguerua is packed with adventure and one of the many ways to discover the unique beaches, freshwater lakes and island culture is a guided tour on horseback. In conjunction with Benguerua Lodge, guided tours are offered to various locations around the island and experience levels range from the complete novice to seasoned riders.
Marlin Lodge offers guests speedboat transfers from the mainland to the lodge as well as the comfort of an airport lounge at Vilanculos. Here, guests can relax with a drink and snack and even take a shower while waiting for visa processing on arrival or before departure.

Marlin Lodge is located off the coast of Mozambique, a 20-minute boat excursion from the mainland town of Vilanculos. The Lodge stretches along the pure white beach of Flamingo Bay, with sea-facing suites located on both sides of the main buildings.
When to go
The main dry season runs from April to November and during this time, daytime temperatures average 24°C. The rainy season is from November to March and temperatures average 27°C. The country's highest temperatures occur in the north around Pemba and west towards Tete. Rainfall averages 850 mm per annum along the coast while during intense rainfall periods, up to 2200 mm can be recorded.
