Uganda can be visited at any time of year. Most of Uganda enjoys the perfect tropical climate. Temperatures average about 26°C during the day and 16°C at night. The hottest months are from December to February.
It is generally rainy (particularly during the months of March to May, September to November), while the remaining months (December to February, June to August) comprise Uganda's two dry seasons.
Overlooking Lake Kyaninga and the Mountains of the Moon, Kyaninga Lodge offers a small collection of cottages in an idyllic setting. Less than an hour from Kibale Forest, this is a tranquil place to stay with easy access to fantastic chimp trekking.
Kyaninga Lodge is comprised of just eight cottages as well as the main lodge building. This makes for a peaceful and relaxing stay, perfect for unwinding after a day trekking with chimpanzee. Cottages are set apart offering guests complete privacy, and connect with the main lodge via a raised wooden walkway.
The main lodge at Kyaninga provides a welcoming seating area, spread around a double-sided, central, open fireplace. In the evenings enjoy dinner in the lodge's dining room, followed by a glass of wine by the fire. The lodge has two raised galleries which offer stunning views of the lake and the mountains, and also leads to two wooden decks with loungers. Wander down the steps to the pool and take in the lake views as you float in the water.
Each cottage provides ample space, all offering an indoor seating area as well as a private terrace. Here you can enjoy morning tea and coffee while admiring the impressive views. The wooden cottages are rustic yet comfortable, with modern bathroom facilities including free-standing bathtub and walk-in shower.
Meals at Kyaninga are served in the main lodge's dining room, and feature a combination of European dishes and local Ugandan ingredients. Straight from the kitchen garden or local markets, each dish is fresh and delicious.
The eight cottages at Kyaninga Lodge are built on platforms, connected by a wooden walkway to the main lodge. Rooms are spacious, with an indoor seating area as well as a private deck. Each cottage has ensuite facilities, and bathrooms feature free-standing bathtubs and glass-walled showers.
Meals at Kyaninga Lodge are served in the main lodge dining room. The menu is based on European dishes but with a Ugandan twist, making use of the local ingredients available from the kitchen garden and nearby markets. The bar has an extensive wine list. WiFi is provided in the main lodge building.
Due to its location less than an hour from Kibale Forest, Kyaninga Lodge is the ideal base from which to go chimp trekking.
Kyaninga Lodge has a large swimming pool overlooking Kyaninga Lake. From here steps lead down to terraced lawns, or guests can adventure further along the banks of the lake through the ancient rainforest. In Kyaninga's gardens there is a grass tennis court and croquet lawn. Guests can also explore the kitchen garden and fruit tree orchard.
Kibale Forest in western Uganda is home to 13 different species of primate, and is the main area for chimpanzee trekking in the country. Sighting rates are high, and you will have the incredible opportunity to get up close to these fascinating animals.
