Backdoor Walk from Little Petra
Trek via the winding back roads with panoramic desert & mountain vistas. This route allows you to beat the crowds, arriving at the famous Monastery whilst most visitors are still at the start of the site. Continue to explore the tombs, Treasury and Siq.
Our backdoor walk follows the ancient Nabatean route from Wadi Ghurab amidst sandstone mountains which leads the way to Petra. Skirt around the mountain rock terrace and narrowing into a hidden plateau above the Wadi Siyyagh.
The spectacular views of the ever-expanding horizon as you climb will reveal to the imposing man-made Monastery towering above you (around 4-hour hike from Little Petra). Afterwards, you will continue to explore the other Nabataean monuments of Petra such as Pharaoh's Castle, the Triumphal Arch, ending at the Treasury and the Siq. You need to be reasonably fit for some climbs.
[Please note that the path is mostly exposed with direct sunlight, hence we recommend to bring your sunscreen, hat and plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated.]
