Private Tour of Kanazawa
Today spend the day exploring the beautifully and well-preserved districts of Kanazawa that survived WWII and almost give you the feeling of stepping back in time.
Start your day at Kenrokuen Gardens, widely thought of as one of the top three examples of Japanese gardens in the entire country and this is a lovely and peaceful way to start your day,. From here you will continue to Nomura Samurai House, a former Samurai residence. You will have the chance to explore the grounds and buildings and appreciate part of Japan's rich Samurai history.
At noon you will head to Omicho Market where you will be able to explore at your own pace, looking around over 200 stalls and restaurants selling fresh produce, kitchenware and delicacies. Enjoy lunch at one of the restaurants at the market before moving over to the Higashi Chaya District, otherwise known as the Geisha District. Here you really feel that you have stepped back in time with streets line with timber fronted tea houses. Kanazawa is especially known for its arts and gold leaf and you will have the chance this afternoon to try your hand using locally produced gold leaf to decorate your own crafts in the traditional style.
